I'm in the market for my first nice watch, but my budget is around 1,000. Breitlings look appealing, but 1,000 doesn't go to far. I see some of the lower end ones retail at just under 2,000 so I figure I could pick up a preowned one for around 1,000. I figure they probably take a big hit in value the first time someone wears it even if it's still in perfect condition. I'm just worried about getting burned if there is something wrong with it and and it requires expensive servicing. I don't have my heart set on anything yet, so do you think I would be better off searching elsewhere based on my price range?

If you want a current model youll probably have to stretch the budget by a couple of hundred bucks. Colt II, Colt quartz-maybe even a Steelfish. Under a grand and youre looking at models that are 10+ years old.

Assuming that we are talking US$. If we are talking Sterling or Euros 1,000 will give you more choice.
