I was at my local Tourneau dealer store today to drop of my Navi for repair. I overheard a salesperson saying that until recently Breitling did not make its own movements which contributed to why its resale value was lower than Omega's. She said that only Rolex and Patek Philipe make all of their own parts. Are these statements true?

Ill try to keep this simple. Breitling, and just about every other Swiss watch brand (including Omega) use outsourced movements in the majority watches. ETA is usually the supplier. Depending on the brand, certain modifications are made to the movement to improve its function or aesthetics. Some are bone stock, and some are heavily modified. Breitling and Omega are among the higher end as far as function goes.

Like Breitling, it wasnt until recently that Omega had an in-house movement of their own. Both brands have similar resale value.

The third statement about Rolex/PP is not true at all. Ill leave it at that since the explanation will end up getting lengthy.

:yeahthat

It amazes me how some people that work for a watch retailer don't know a whole lot about watches.
