Post subject:  New Breitling Owner with Questions

Hey all! I'm the proud new owner of a Navitimer World silver dial. I have had several questions answered by searches, but have come up empty on a couple.

1) I adjusted the bracelet, but the link near the clasp with screws on both sides has been an absolute bear. Do they make a tool to do this - if so, where do I pick one up?

2) I am starting to fall in love with the black dial Navitimer World. Does anyone know where I could get a black dial if I ever want to switch it out (hopefully this does not prompt flames!)? I have an excellent watch guy here that would do the work for me.

I'm loving the forums so far. Thanks in advance!

Link near the clasp? Do you mean the pins for the micro adjustment? Bergeon 6767 tool google it or search for it on here. I got mine somewhere off Amazon.com and it works great!
You can buy just the black head at any AD... but you can swap the bracelets back and forth yourself. It would be a waste of time to go to someone just to switch the heads. Or do you mean buying the black dial and dissecting the watch to do so?

I don't mean the micro-adjustment. The links on the metal bracelet are taken off by removing a screw. The last link before the clasp has screws on both sides. You have to have 2 screwdrivers in order to tighten/loosen. I'm sure there's a tool to do it. Trying to just use 2 screwdrivers by hand is impossible.

As far as the dial, I mean just the dial, not the whole head. I'd have my watch guy dissect the watch and swap the silver one for the black one (not now, probably down the road when it gets a service). He did this on my Omega PO, switching the blue face to a black one, so I'm not worried about getting it done.

I got ya, now I understand. Not too sure about the bracelet to be honest...and me keep hearing about people buying the Silver N world kills me more and more each day untill mine arrives shortly  Its an awesome watch!

As for the Dial...I personally have not heard of people caring to do that because it seems like it would be a lot of work. I would stick it out with the Silver. Going from Silver to black (to me) would feel like I am wearing a smaller watch since the black wears much smaller. I could see going from black to silver though. JMO though

I'm interested to see what other have to say on this one, even though my thoughts are something would be bound to go wrong if not done by the right person.

The correct tool is, well, two screwdrivers. The easier tool is an AD.

In terms of dial replacement, same advice as always when this is asked.......

Breitling will do the work but charge you well over $1,000. If you buy a dial on eBay or similar and get a local guy to do it then you are creating a watch that can never go back to Breitling for servicing or repair - and no one else has access to Breitling service parts. Breitling will either refuse to work on it because it's been modified or change it back to the dial colour that it started with and charge you for the privilege.

The best way to get a black dial is to sell the one you have and buy the one you want.

If you really want a black dial Navi World, there was a guy on the FS forum about two weeks back that wanted to trade his black dial Navi World for a white dial Navi World. So if you're seriously thinking about it, I'd look him up.
