A couple of weeks ago I joined the forum and made my first post. A noob to the world of watch collecting. I had wanted a Navitimer for quite a while. Within an hour or so I had several helpful replies and was told to contact FEAR (Geoff, Provident Jewelers) or jnelson3097(Justin). FEAR responded first and answered all of my noob questions. I told him what I wanted and within a day he had located the watch and gave me a price. Around this same time jnelson3097 contacted me and recommended George at Govberg in Philly. I called George, the Govberg price and the Provident price were within $100 of each other. I went with FEAR as he had been my first contact. He called or e-mailed everyday to keep me updated on the watch. Fear called on Thursday afternoon and told me they couldn't get the watch FedExed (overnighted) that day and didn't like to ship on Fridays because the watch would sit in a warehouse all weekend. He apologized and said, they would Fedex it Monday morning. No problem from my end, the customer service was outstanding. Monday rolls around and I get an early morning phonecall from FEAR, Provident had been robbed over the weekend, $7 mil. stolen. Everything in the safe was gone. He wasn't sure where my watch was. I have to admit I was feeling a bit uneasy, like a scam or something was going on. So I googled it, and sure enough, http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/crime ... 06179.html Tuesday moring I get a call from FEAR, "You're one lucky bastard", your watch was 1 of 6 that didn't get stolen. It had been locked up somewhere other than the safe. The next day, my Navi arrived. One Completely Satisfied Customer here!!! FEAR was great. Here's a quick pic (not the best). ![]() Regards, Mike |

First of....I don't think you could have started the collection with a better watch. I got the same model as my second only a few weeks after my first. Anyhow, point being...get ready for the ride man. ![]() ![]() ![]() Secondly, that is a great story about how your watch came to be. Unfortunately it is not so good for the AD, but nonetheless. Welcome to the source. Hang a round awhile and you will catch on quick. Edit: I just saw that the Navi isnt your first, but It still holds true nonetheless. |

Thanks for your help guys, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) a couple of things happened that convinced me to buy the Navitimer 01 LE. My AD was able to get me a serial number that matched my birth year straight from Switzerland (they are building it specifically for me) and my wife said she would buy it as my 50th birthday present. (Once she found out we could get the 1961 LE number, she TOLD me I'm getting it! Although I ho'ed and hum'ed about price and the other Navi being "new", looking the same and $1500 cheaper). But I'll contact you guys in the future for any future purchases. I REALLY wish I could afford both! Thanks again! |
