The Breitling Watch Source Forums :: View topic

As I was doing my nightly browse on the source I randomly starting thinking Between the Winderider Series and the Aeromarine Series....since the Aeromarine line is geared more toward nautical use (hence the series name) vs the Windriders...why would my Chronomat Evo have the screw down chronograph buttons yet really none of the Aeromarines do?

Something else that baffles me design wise is if you cant use all but one watch in the Aeromarine line underwater( in regards to the chronograph) then why wouldn't the rest have at least the screw down chrono buttons incase of accidentally activating the chronograph????

Any thoughts on this? :roll:

As I said - the middle case.

Guess I have google how they're put together bc the cases on my bentley and navitimer look like they're one piece, at least from the outside.

Good points by all. I love the Aeromarine line (which is obvious by my collection), and I agree it would be nice to have the screw down pushers if you are planning to dive. However, I snorkeled with my SA BS, and wasn't too concerned. I know if I accidentally pushed a pusher underwater I could have trouble, but I felt it was unlikely as they are not that sensitive. That being said, I won't wear anything but my M-1 if there is any prolonged or serious water activities.

I have found that since 99.99999% of the time I am not underwater, I like the non-screw down pushers because I can activate them in a pinch! If I need them NOW, I get them NOW. I like that.... :lingsrock:

As to the point of the OP, I agree, a lot of luxury watches aren't necessarily designed with the best 'professional' use functions in mind, even though Breitlings are supposed to be 'instruments for professionals'. To me, the dive and pilot designations have become more of the style and not necessarily used for the activity they represent (better dive/pilot tools to use these days).

The middle case has all of the bits that things go through. Screw up a crown tube on a Windrider range with stripped thread or similar and the tube gets replaced. Do the same thing on an Aeromarine range and the middle case gets replaced.

If that's the case, I think that is ridiculous.... A brand like breitling should never cut edges to help people afford a watch. Esspecially something like a screw down button. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I think the SOC has screw down pushers. The only one in the line I think. I agree with MrC on original post it should be the other way around with regards the pushers. All the A .M. Line should have them. .

I would expect someone like Tag to make a decision like that... that's one of the reason why I respected this brand so much(along with any other things of course), because not everyone has(or can afford) on like a Tag. STOP CUTTING CORNERS AND DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO MAKE EACH PIECE THE BEST IT CAN BE! Just don't start making them all in Platinum/Tourbillons

I dont like screw downs, so im happy with it the way it is. And as Breanach mentioned, the SO Chrono has screw downs. I dont think its all about money. The SO Chrono has screw down pushers and a day/date...and costs less than an AS or SA. The only price consideration I can figure would be the smaller crystal size, but if that were the case, the AS and SA wouldnt have the exact same retail price.
