Well I think before the day is done I'll own one, maybe two more Breitlings.

I have had the AD put aside the 38mm SOH on ocean racer for my wife's birthday next month, and the Breitling rep happened to be there.

I enquired about the availability of a blacksteel and was told they would have one there in about an hour. Could be an expensive day.....

If you pull the trigger-send photos quick. Good Luck :D I hope the damage to the old check book is not deadly  Sure wish I had an AD that was cooperative. Only one in my area and he does not have a lot of stock and the place is a little snooty :(

Guy's,

I'm suffering from the same disease. I got my Diamond bezel for my Bentley yesterday and now I want one for my Super Avenger. When does this all end ?

The deed is done.....

SOH 38 bronze on bronze sitting next to me.

Oh, you wanna know about the other one.......

What do you think?

It's sitting on top of the SOH.

But what the heck is it - it's big enough to be a full ling, but is on rubber which makes it a degraded ling - but as a blacksteel it has to be on rubber, so do I get a pass to the full ling club?

I take a bath occasionally, is that good enough?

Hmmm, wonder what the black steel would look like on a Pro II.......... maybe not.

You could say - three in April so far :?

I'm not sure how many people have bought a display back cosmo and a blacksteel within a few weeks of one another - oh well, it's only money.

On practical matters...

1) I'll add photos over the weekend

2) The SOH is a nicer looking piece than I expected, the bronze is a nice look and the ocean racer strap is very impressive - shame it has to be cut, but I guess that doesn't really matter except for resale.

3) My AD thinks that he can still get another couple of blacksteels, so if anyone is serious pm me. I can't guarantee that he'll match my price - I am benefitting from being a repeat buyer, but he won't rip you off, he will be cheaper than eBay prices right now and he will ship internationally - but he is going to be looking for proof that you're serious.

4) Does anyone know if someone produces a carbon steel aftermarket bracelet that would fit the blacksteel?

Congrats on your purchase there Roff! Nice going! You're getting quite a collection of limited editions.

In terms of a DLC bracelet, I'm pretty sure you're going to be looking at getting a genuine Pro II coated by an aftermarket watch customisation firm or engineering company. I've come across a few companies on the net that will customise watches, but most only seem to offer PVD surfaces..... which makes me think that you'll be looking at an engineering company. Might be a tough (and expensive) thing to do, but WHAT A WATCH that will be! Totally unique! DO IT! :)

Congratulations Roffensian!

Wicked! ;)

A custom made Pro II as Driver suggests would really be something extra.

I was going to suggest you contacted an engineering focused university to see if they could coat it for you. Trouble is, they all talk like this...

"The design and manufacture of multifunctional, wear resistant and lubricious nanocomposite coatings by simultaneous growth of nanocrystalline hard phases and amorphous carbon is an ambitious objective of current R&D in thin film engineering. This paper presents a concept of advanced nanolaminated PVD coatings combining the advantages of both the concepts of carbon-based nanocomposite coatings and those of multilayer coatings. In the past, mainly thermodynamically stable binary phases like TiC were used as hard phases to synthesize carbon-based nanocomposite protective and solid-lubricant coatings. The development of such coatings and basic results on magnetron-sputtered TiC/a-C coatings are reviewed briefly. New nanoscale single-layer composite coatings composed of coexisting metastable hard phases like fcc (Ti,Al)(N,C) and amorphous carbon were grown by magnetron sputtering. The microstructure, properties and performance of these coatings is presented and discussed versus the carbon concentration of the coatings. A five-step growth model of these coatings is suggested. The main focus is on the presentation of concepts for innovative nanolaminated composite coatings: these coatings have a special nano-architecture and are composed of the different carbon-based nanocomposite layers described previously. For example, a nanolaminated composite coating with a stacking sequence of each 50 layers of TiC/a-C and (Ti,Al)(N,C)/a-C shows promising properties and performance in tribological testing and in tool testing as well. The scale-up of such coatings was also successfully demonstrated and a new route towards industrial manufacture by applying new ceramic composite targets for magnetron sputtering is reported."

I don't find that troublesome at all. :) But then again, as an engineer in material science I maybe have an advantage... At least on this subject.
