I've noticed what I perceive to be an inordinate amount of posts on this site over the last several days to weeks concerning varied problems associated with BO1 caliber watches. Anyone else noticing this or is just my imagination?

Not your imagination, and seems to be some consistency - chrono related problems mainly. Some seem to be on new pieces so may just be coincidence as 'new' pieces have been sold for almost 2 years. I would (will) be more concerned if these issues become a trend as movements age.

We know that Breitling did extensive wear simulations, but that's not the same as real world use.

Hi all - I guess I'm one of the unfortunate ones that have experienced issues with my B01. I purchased the Chronomat B01 Limited on Dec 31 and the watch was running slow at a rate of -4 seconds/day, which i accepted. The main issue I had was two fold - the date would not completely turn over and remain stuck in-between numbers. I thought it was some kind of coincidence but it occurred three times in a three week span.

The second issue I encountered with the watch was that the hands somehow lost alignment. For instance when the watch hit noon, the hour hand rested behind 12 and not on 12. When the minute hand moved to 10 past, the hour hand would then be aligned at 12. When I first purchased the watch, the date would change exactly at 12 am but is now changing when it hits 10 past.

I went back to my AD today to see if they could exchange it for a new one but stated that there is a very low chance that they will exchange it for a new one. This is quite disturbing as I did not pay $50 for this watch and did not expect such issues to occur with their in-house movements. I know every company has their "lemons" but this is the second Breitling that I purchased in the past 6 months that was defective (another long story, concerning my SuperOcean).

I'll provide feedback as soon as I receive some news from my AD.

Sorry to hear about your problem with the Chronomat and the SO as well. That has to be really frustrating.
Please do keep us apprised of the outcome.

BTW I love your screen name. My wife and I have a standing joke about the Chubacabra. I take the side that it actually exists (jokingly) and she the opposite, so every time there's something in the news about it, I present it as "hard evidence" or "proof" to her and really get her hot under the collar. :lol:

Thanks for the warm reception. Believe it or not, I first heard about the Chubacabra on an episode of the X-Files. That name is forever ingrained in me.

Not your imagination at all. I've been thinking the same thing, and it's made me very leery about pulling the trigger on the TransOcean.

That's what I thought; not my imagination. It just seemed that for the number of B01 owners on this site the problems associated with the movement were way out of proportion.

That's disappointing.

Exactly the same here. I really love the Transocean and was really looking to buy but this is scaring me.

I'm one of those problematic B01 owners too (the movement that is, not me!)

My Navitimer Caliber 01 had an issue from brand new, the chrono minute hands instantly jumps between the one and two minute position when you start the chrono. I've been told something needs tightening..................

As an aside the large red chrono second hand also had something white stuck to it or a dink in the coating.

Not what I was expecting from an $11,300 watch! Especially when I was so close to choosing the IWC Portuguese Auto instead, but I thought no, I'll stick to what I know...............................

I was expecting it back by today but I haven't heard anything.

maybe is time for Breitling to think to continue the production of the B13, in house... they can.. as the copyrights from valjoux are expired.

What's to rethink - they've been doing it for years with at least some of the parts, but that's not an in house movement.

sorry.. i meant to continue with B13 and B01, and to produce the B13 all in house, if they are not doing yet... i don't think it is a wise move to stop with B13 and go with B01 only...
as the rumours telling us that they will discontinue the Chronomat (with B13), i think this would be a wrong move.

Again, they have been producing most, if not all of the B13 themselves for years, but that will never be considered as an in house movement. If Breitling is looking to move forward then they need to develop a family of new movements and solve any issues that they come across.

I had one of the first B01's back in mid 2009. My issue is that the sweeping chronograph had will "skip" when it gets to a certain point on the dial. It's been sent back to BUSA twice without any resolution. However, I have had no issues with my Navi 01 . . . yet. I'll be sending the Chronomat B01 back for a third time now that I have a spare watch to wear while it's gone.
