I'm a noobie when it comes to collecting watches and have always wanted a Navitimer. (Inexperienced questions to follow)

1. Should I only buy from an authorized dealer thats listed on the Breitling webpage?

2. Will authorized dealers give a % discount or can you haggle? (Authorized TAG dealers seem to offer 20% off retail)

3. What about non-authorized dealers like this, http://www.prestigetime.com/items.php?b ... series=570 , are these real or fake?

4. How does a non-authorized dealer affect the warranty?

As I said, I'm new to this and would just like to get a nice original Navitimer at a reasonable price.

TIA,
Mike

Hi and welcome aboard. At the risk of not seeming too helpful, the search button between the "FAQ" and "Members" buttons above right on the screen will really be your best friend in answering all your questions as theyve been answered at considerable length on a number of threads on here.

However, short answers -

1. Yes. Especially if it's your first Breitling. Loads of threads on this topic.

2. Both. Most offer a % but haggle away as well. Loads of posts on this too.

3. Grey market sellers. Most, like PrestigeTime, sell genuine stock ; some others out there may sell fakes. Again there's honestly loads of info on here - search button again.

4. If a watch comes from a non-authorised source there will be no official Breitling warranty. Again, loads of info on here - far more than I could put in one response.

We have a few people on here who have close relationships with authorized dealers. Reach out to member FEAR and he can help you. Good luck and welcome to a great site!

:yeahthat Member "FEAR" or member "jnelson3097" are you best bet for setting up a close AD relationship in the US. If you are UK based, then Banks Lyon or Andrew Michaels are the recommended AD's - banners at the top of the page.

Hey Mike,

I was in your exact situation about a month ago. I never owned a Breitling and didn't know anything about high-end watches (still don't know much, but better than before) and had all the similar questions you are asking now. As others have already mentioned, there's a TON of information on this site. I wore out the search button with keywords like "AD vs Grey Market", "AD Discount", etc.

To make my long story short, I ended up buying my first Breitling, a Navitimer, from a well respected AD. For me, it was the right choice because it gave me the piece of mind buying from an AD. Plus, I value the relationship I've built more than the price difference of a used watch or savings from a grey market dealer. Anyways, best of luck with your search and research. There are many great members on this site that won't hesitate to help you out if you ask for it.

Hey man, quick question, did you go with the regular navi or the L01?

Just curious

I bought the regular Navi with white dial and white subdials. Although the Nav 01 is an amazing looking watch, I preferred the white face and the lower price tag.

8 weeks?!? OMG, I don't think I can wait that long. Just waiting for this watch for the last couple of days has been brutal. Lucky for me, I have the Bears vs Packers game to keep my mind preoccupied from the watch this week.
