So we all have a favorite AD. I just moved to SoCal from the Philadelphia area. Guess who was my fave in Philly? Govbergs of course. :D But now I'm in the San Diego area and am having a hard time coming close to their service, and customer satisfaction. Some AD's here won't call you back on service issues. Another AD who has a great selection offered me ZERO discount. :wowzers This is after a long conversation about watches, and she even mentioned how impressed she was of my knowledge. (which really isn't much, but I'm not a noob either) I just could not believe that the best they would offer was "no tax to ship it out of state." I mean c'mon, in this economy? Do they think I pay sticker price for a car too? :poke: I've been to a few AD's in Orange County which seem to be better but it's a LONG drive. :(

I don't expect a red carpet when I go to shop, but if I'm willing to drop a few thousand bucks on a watch, the least they could do is work with you, and not play games. Ok, my rant is over....... :violin: :soapbox: :soapbox:

I feel your pain. The whole state of Oregon has only one authorized Breitling dealer, in one location. I haven't been there in a while, because their selection is so poor, there is no point. However, a member here recently posted that he went in just after Christmas, and they said they are out of all Breitling stock at least until March. So...you could be doing worse. I just bought my CSO from George, and he's excellent. Since I wasn't used to a good dealer to begin with, I only felt like I was gaining by being able to order from him long distance. Since you had access to his shop in person, I can see why you miss it.

I hear you there Don. It's unfortunate you had to leave the (Govberg) area - what a bonus to have had their store nearby, lots of stock to look at and good prices to boot!

I can hardly stand walking into the local AD, usually very disappointed. During my last visit, I asked the sales guy about battery life of the quartz models, specifically the ladies Galactic 32. He responded with they are all 3-4 years. I knew the Colt quartz was 8 years and the other "mens'" models were in that 2-4 yr. range, and thought the Galactic 30 and 32 were better also. He had the book right in front of him and wouldn't even look it up for me, just insisted he knew what the spec. was (which obviously turned out to be incorrect). I told him I will look it up later (6 yrs. on ladies models).

It's hard to justify spending thousands of dollars at a place that doesn't seem to care or are not willing to answer your questions. But, I am accepting it better now and just don't expect much when talking with them anymore.

OK, I'm done ranting also  :violin:

46crew, i know exactly what you mean about san diego. i was less than impressed with the shop in la jolla and wouldn't even go to the one in fashion valley after the brief conversation on the phone with the sales rep. enjoy the perfect weather. i miss my old home.

He'd still have to pay sales tax, though. One bright side about all this is that if he continues to buy through George interstate, he'll save on tax, in addition to the discount.

Wow, I feel lucky now. But you are absolutely right about Govberg. They are THE BEST I have ever dealt with.

Did you get a chance to go to their new location before you moved out west?

I sure did. Very nice store on Walnut Street. I spoke with George and Dominic, and SHOULD have bought the SOHC 125th Anniversay model that I had it my hands. :boohoo:

Hey guys, thanks to a member on this forum, I found a GREAT AD within an hour's drive. And today I walked out with something I have been eyeing -a beautiful blue dial Super Avenger on pro II. I LOVE IT. There were many models I liked, but with my budget it was perfect. They gave me a great deal, and this is the most excited I've been about a watch in a long, long time. I am a large jar-head and have a 8" wrist and this wears perfectly. I also have a Blacksteel SA, so this is a nice compliment.

Thanks guys for the help, I just found my new favorite watch! Cheers,

Don

Congrats Don...she looks great!! Glad you were able to find a local dealer that you can work with going forward...that can be an unsettling feeling.

Congrats on the new pick-up Don. Don't see too many blue SAs around, looks great! I'm glad you found a dealer relatively close for future personal service.

Probably don't need that Ti Chrono Avenger anymore now, huh? Just curious, what color dial?
