I was at a local AD today and I was told that Breitling is having a 5% price increase across the board and some models will be raised even HIGHER :!: This is not good news at all. The Super Avenger, which is Breitling's most popular model, will be going up around 15% to over $5k. Anyone interested in the SA better get it now because a 15% increase is ridiclious!!!!!!!!!

:lingsrock: I wish I could change this symbol to show a thumbs down!!!!!!!!!!!

100% Positive he wasn't referring to an in house Super Avenger. That's sad news to hear that Breitling is jacking the price so high on their #1 selling watch. If I was in the market for an SA I would buy one today. A different AD told me last week to expect a nice increase from Panerai also this year....that's why I moved so quickly on my Rad. Big discount + pre-price increase + no sales tax = Jackpot in my book :!:

If the more costly version has an in house movement, I wouldn't expect a meaningful change in resale value of the current model.

When was the last increase in the US, and how much was it?

Glad I got my CSO when I did. I just had a feeling an increase was coming. Word has been out for a while about the increase in the UK. I figured it was only a matter of time before it happened in the US.

BTW, I thought the Chronomat was Breitling's best seller. Is that not correct?

It will not have an inhouse movement. What makes you think it will?

If you can afford a $4,000 watch, then paying $4,300 for the same watch shouldn't be a big deal.

IMO, buying luxury timepieces (which I do NOT think Breitlings are) follows the old addage.....if you have to ask how expensive it is, you probably shouldn't be buying it.

We should ALL expect costs to go up over time - and it's easy to get Breitlings for discounts in the 20-30% range here in the States, so I'm not going to complain. I like to save money as much as the next guy - but seriously - if I can afford a $5,000 watch, I'm not going to complain about a 10-15% increase in price every few years for something that I really want.

According to the BreitlingSource price grid, looks like the last general increase was in the 2008 year and some of the models went up about 16% (head prices).
