Post subject:  Navitimer, Heritage, World Distinctions?

Hi all,

I absolutely love the Navitimer series and plan to purchase one of them in the next few weeks. However, since I'm not too familiar with these watches in general, I was hoping the members can clue me in on some of the pros and cons of each model I'm looking at. For example, I think the Navitimer Heritage has been discontinued. What does that mean to me? Does that mean it'll be difficult for me to acquire extra straps (especially from an AD), if desired? What about any potential servicing issues?

Also, besides the physical sizes of all three models, what are the major differences for each functionality? For example, I think I've read that the Heritage is not an "in-house" movement. Sorry for such a newbie question, but I have no idea what that means and how it affects me.

Thanks in advance.

None of the Navitimers have in house movements except for the new limited edition Navitimer B01. The World has a second time zone function, and the Heritage has a flyback chrono meaning that it doesn't need to be stopped before it is reset. The Navitimer and World have 12 hour chronos, the Heritage has a 3 hour chrono. They are also different sizes - the regular (non in house) Navitimer is the smallest, then the Heritage is slightly larger with quite a big step up to the World.

The fact that the Heritage is discontinued won't affect strap availability or servicing, but if you buy a Heritage that hasn't been serviced then it's approaching the window when a service will be required - the newest ones are over 3 years old now.

Roff just forgot to mention that Heritage comes on integrated bracelet only, so no straps for this model.

Wait what? So no croc straps on deployant option for this watch then? Damn, that's a dealbreaker then...

Thank you guys both for all the information.
