I received this Breitling as a gift from family years ago and have been itching to get a new watch since I never wear this. I have the original case which included a blue velcro wallet. It is in great condition and I believe it was purchased in the mid to late 80s. I believe it cost anywhere from $7k-10k, but I could be wrong.

I was wondering if one of you very knowledgeable folks on here would help a little chap like me!

Welcome to the site.
Your best bet as far as determining value will be to check the completed auctions section on ebay. You also might want to check sites such as Chrono24.com for asking prices.

I just checked and there's an older UTC/Chronomat combo under the completed listings section on ebay currently. While not yours precisely it should give you some direction.

In 1991 retail for similar model with bullet bracelet, UTC and gold bezel was US $5.025.
In mid to late 80s, it was lower than that.

I have tried searching for my Breitling online, but have no idea on how to distinguish mine versus the thousands of different types that are out there.

I didn't know the model, year, etc.......

What are your thoughts on selling my watch at a Tourneau store?

Do they offer a good value or do you get ripped off?

I wouldn't have a clue about Tourneau, but as with any sales to a retail store, where their goal is resale, they're not going to give you what you could get by selling it privately.

You'll always make more money selling privately, especially if the sale to a store is outright rather than a trade in.

Yeah, I guess I honestly never thought about selling it privately because of the amount of knock offs that are out there.

I figured it would be a lost cause to go that route.....

If I did head to Tourneau, I would use it for a trade in into another pre-owned or new piece. I would never sell it outright to them as I know I would be getting punched in the face. :)

Tourneau may give you more in trade, but they're only doing that to hide the discount you would get if you bought the watch at any other AD
