Do you insure your watch(s)?
I personal do however I was curious to get everyone else's take on it.

It would have been quicker but I had to edit because you can only have 10 links in a post and there are a lot more than 10 topics.

With all due respect to ROFF, I checked the first 8 of those 10 links and they were either from Europe and/or they were asking for advice about insuring their watches. The person who posted this question lives in America and was asking for opinions about insuring timepieces. I know a lot of you guys have been around these boards forever, but not every question is the same and it's good to get some new opinions from time to time.

I personally think it depends on the value and/or scarcity of your timepiece and how much the insurance costs. I do not insure my Omega or my Breitling because I think they are easily replaceable at a reasonable cost. Both also lost considerable value as soon as I took ownership of them. I do include my Panerai and my wife's Patek because the Patek is a rare watch and would be extremely difficult and expensive to replace and the Panerai holds its value much better than the other watches I own. So in my opinion, I think you need to weigh the value of the watch against the premium of the insurance cost PLUS the actual rarity of the piece you are going to insure.

If anything, I never even thought to insure my watches, so I'm definitely going to look into that now. Thanks.

I insure both of my Breitlings. At $40/year per watch, it's a no brainer for me.

I don't insure my watches but think that I should. Anyone from Canada insure their watches? I too looked at the links ROLF and a lot of them were about UK insurance.

My AD actually sends me a letter with the Jewelery store's letterhead stating the replacement cost of the watch for insurance purposes. I have yet to be worried enough about it that I should be taking out a policy for my watches alone.

As I said on a number of the previous threads (!), I have mine on my household insurance (Intact, formerly ING) and as long as they are named items then I don't have to pay extra as long as the total contents value doesn't exceed a percentage of the total insurance coverage.

I've had the same policy for quite a number of years now, so no idea if they still offer that or whether I am grandfathered.

My household new for old policy covers items like Lings...expensive golf clubs, ect ..if you declare them as seperate items...including full photo evidence, serial numbers, and reciepts........up to a certain value within the current year.
For the SA it also covers it for out of house theft and loss......along with a police report.
