Hello, I have purchased my first Breitling watch and was saddened at some of the snobbery that surrounds the different models. For most people buying a high-end watch is still a big consideration; even moreso in this 'age of austerity'. But there are other considerations, and not all are based on price. For example, I have smaller wrists and for a number of models they couldn't be a consideration for me, as they look oversized on my wrist. In terms of wearability I have to accept that some desireable models just aren't for me. So I have purchased a Colt Quartz and am extremely pleased with the watch. The costing wasn't the issue in the end, and I would have bought another higher priced model if that had been a better option for me. With this watch the finish is great and less polished than say the Colt automatic, and this suits me better. I feel I can wear this watch every day and feel good about it. The only downside is the way people seem to shun this model due to its quartz movement. Having stepped into the world of Breitling I know that this will not be the last one I buy. I love everything about the design and look of this brand, and have done so for a long time before finally deciding to justify the purchase of one. |

Congrats on joining the club. There have been a few threads here about how the Colt isn't a 'real' Breitling, but I think that generally you will find that the Colt is seen in this community as a very fine example of the brand. It is also a million times better than some of the LEs that have been announced lately! |

Congrats on your first ling, I'm sure there will be many more in your future. Dont pay attention to the haters, if you like it and it feels good on your wrist then it shouldn't matter what others think. |

sharkman wrote: Conrgats! ![]() ![]() Yes I'll have a go at putting up a pic or two later. I am so stoked up by this watch I absolutely adore it. And I did choose it on a range of factors that are right for me and my lifestyle. God I'm in my early 40s and now have a 'proper' watch at last. That's part of the excitement isn't it?. Waiting for something you really want. I know that Marx called such attraction to stuff like this 'commodity fetishism'. But it does feel great. |

sharkman wrote: Conrgats! ![]() ![]() ![]() Tom hit the nail on the head with his above statement! Welcome to the forums and like Roff said, most folks here while they don't particularly care for quartz movements, they pretty much agree that the Cold is one of the best there is and accept it as such. I too began my Breitling experience with a "Pre-loved" Colt and it has served me well for the past 3 years as my daily wearer working over here in Iraq. While I've managed to expand my knowledge and my collection, it is one piece that will always hold an honored place within my collection. Enjoy yours in good health and wear it with pride. |
