Hi people im new to this fourm. Just last week i purchased my first brietling! ![]() I went for a black face avenger skyland with steel bracelet. Thought it looked really cool and robust! I want to use this watch as my everyday watch and have it on my wrist 24/7. I go to the gym most nights and was wondering if this watch was ok to use in the pool, steamroom, and sauna? many thanks! |

It should be OK. People wear their Lings in the shower. But the more you put it through, the more it will need to be serviced. Hot and wet conditions will tax the gaskets more than just wet conditions will. If you routinely put wear on the gaskets, you will probably need to get them replaced, or at least checked, once a year. Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't wear it to the gym. For one thing, it risks banging up the watch unnecessarily. For another, it screams, "Hey, check me out, I'm at the gym with a Breitling." Then again, maybe the fact I wear a Nike digital at the gym explains why I'm not meeting any chicks there. So maybe I should start wearing a Breitling. Hmm... ![]() |

Pool - it has 1000' water resistence so you can wear in in the pool. But I would never where my AS in water for one simple reason - I might accidently depress on of the chrono pushers which could allow water into the watch. The only chronos I wear in water are those with screw down pushers (Chronomat, etc...) Sauna and steam room - no. No watch is really designed for hot water or steam. The seals can break down, losing the W/R. Many people take regular hot showers with their watch on without any problem. I don't simply because I am uncomfortable regularly subjecting a watch to very hot water. Not to mention very hot, fast moving water which can be even more problematic. You will likely get some differing views. I have many watches I do/would swim in. The AS is not one of them. |

Thanks guys for the posts, much appreciated! ![]() Sounds to me like I may aswell just leave it at home when I pop down the gym! The only reason I was gonna use it down the gym was as a stop watch. spose I am better off buying a cheaper watch for that! lol As for the steamroom that gonna be a definate no go. Thanks again!! |

For that, a digital countdown timer works much better than a stopwatch, because it will let me know when it's time to lift again. Plus, I don't care if I beat the hell out of my Nike. |

geralder wrote: And the fact that it will probably burn your wrist ![]() I think thats the biggest issue. Any objective data ive ever read suggests that any high WR watch should be just fine in a hot tub or steam room. Ive worn my watches in hot tubs before and never had a problem, but a steam room makes metal freaking hot. |

Thats exactly what I use my G-shock for. Im also not picking up any chicks there. |

Hey i have the exact same watch and would never dream of using it for the Gym. i do have however a 10 year old Tissot quartz that i use for the gym /pool /sauna/ streamroom and 3 batterys later and no seal changes it has NEVER missed a beat. on the last battery change and pressure test the guy said what great condition it was in. pushers would be my area of concern although they are not easy to push i wouldn't take the risk ![]() |

An iced out Ling I could guess...but a Nike? The calculator just keeps coming up with an error message on that one. The result can't be good. |
