Hi, I just recieved as a graduation gift a Chronomat 10 aniversary Special edition of 1994. This watch has been kept in the box since 2000, and before that rarely used. I dont know anything about watches, so I have a few questions. Obviously i wanted to send it to maintenance, but after seeing that in my country (mexico) the only oficial place is quite expensive and also is in the country capital wich is fareaway, I live in the north close to Texas. Yes. I know a watch of this quality should recieve the best and is worth the money invested, but do you think the service is necesary even if the watch havent been used? Its extremly recomended to only use and oficial service? Also, Im now a Comercial Pilot and want to start using this watch, but apparently its a special edition and quite expensive this days, would you recomend to just keep it safe and stored? |

Spend the money to properly service it, and wear it! ....because it should probably be sent in anyway. Heck it's a gift, you can part with a little cash and enjoy it. |

if it's been in the box for 10 years, by all means have a full chronograph service performed by the Breitling. The oils will have broken down and it requires service. Then enjoy the hell out of it. Congrats on graduation and a special gift you can count on for life if properly maintained. |

Breitling service costs are fairly comparable whichever country you are in - and it needs it. This is not a particularly valuable watch - the LE status adds little to the value of a 16 year old Chronomat so wear it (after servicing) and enjoy it. |
