Post subject:  Don't get it wet?
I used to shower with other watches years ago, until one was water damaged. I am guessing that I am in the minority, but I have never gotten my CSO wet. I am even talking about under a sink. I was especially careful when I had my watch on a croc strap, but even now on the PRO II I keep it dry. (I have a G-Shock for water) Aside from Navi's anyone else try to avoid water?

I clean my watches with lukewarm running water and mild soap regularly, so I am sure your CSO will be fine.
What was the watch that got water damage and do you know the reason why (pushers used when under water of crown not screwed in correctly)?

I am sure my watch will be fine, it is a divers watch. I was just wondering if anyone was as careful not to get theirs wet. The watch that was damaged was an old Seiko with bad seals.

I've never had an issue with getting my Breitlings wet. All of them are either steel or rubber bracelets, however. In fact, I'm a boater and during the summer months I often swim with them on, in salt water to boot. I always rinse them off afterwards with warm water and soap just like David82.

I'm a little bit like this-- if I'm intending a watch for use in water (swimming, etc.) then I don't really think about it, but if I don't intend on wearing it in the water properly, I definitely wouldn't wear it in the shower or anywhere I thought there was a good chance of it getting wet, regardless of whether or not it has a high WR or not.

...Which is sort of silly, now that I think about it, but I tend to look at it as not exposing it to something potentially destructive unnecessarily?

I have a CE and it rates to 300M, I've given the watch all the water abuse possible besides deep diving without an issue. Cliff jumping, snorkeling, free diving etc... I expect to do that with something that rates to nearly 1000ft. :lingsrock:

. :yeahthat Me to . . . I would try to mind all my watches as best I can so that means no water for me. . . Btw I think showering and bathing is the very bad for a watch and not linked to the rating of it as the water used could possiblely be very hot resulting in the metal distorting and allowing water in.

I have a B-1 SuperQuartz and i would like to wear it when i go (normal) swimming. That should be ok?
According the spec's its fine for normal swimming so... i dont want my Breitling been stolen when i'm swimming :?

I agree completely with the steam. I personally wouldn't wear it in the shower due to the temperature of the water and the potential for condensation build up inside the case as a result. I just read a thread on this issue this morning. It was about the oils in a watch and the need for maintenance. One of the points was about exposing the watch to temperature extremes and the fact that all watches breath. They may be water tight but are not air tight.

I own a blackbird and wear it in the shower once a week and figure the warm water and mild soap is good to clean off the gunk and give it a good shine. While I have an omega that I use primarily for my water activities, I wouldn't hesitate to get my blackbird wet as it's got a depth rating of 300M.

However, I always make sure the crowns are always locked down. I don't know why, I don't use my chrono that much, but I feel like the one of the chrono crowns always seems to be a little loose for some reason. So I just double check to make sure they're tight before I get the watch wet.

no need to screw tight the pushers!
even if the chrono pushers are not screwed the watch is 300 mt waterresistant.

and the old chronomat, with no screwed pushers is 100mt waterresistant...

if the gasp is under 2 years and the back case is properly closed, of course....

I have a Chrono Super Ocean that I swim with regularly. I just make sure the everything is screwed down tight before I get in the water. It has been subjected to fresh water, salt water, and chlorinated water. I have never had an issue with it. I just rinse it off with soap and water afterwards and all is good. My Navitimer World however is a different story. If I am doing anything more than washing my hands, it comes off. With the rating on that watch, I'm not about to tempt fate and be one of those horror stories with moisture in the case that I read posts about from time to time.
