Looking in my local AD yesterday and a big sign inthe window.Breitling 8% price increase 1st jan.
with the 2% VAT increase at the same time. I am so glad i bit the bullet and bought 2 years ago. :D
New price of a Avenger will be the best part of 4K and probably more if any further rise as normal.

Swiss watch manufacturers don't watch the news. Recessions, tough market conditions, higher taxation, government cutbacks, etc, apparently don't affect them.

No kidding. I was saying the same thing in another thread recently, where another member bluntly proclaimed that if a piddly 8% adjustment made the difference between buying and not buying, I was in the wrong market. Whatever. To me, it doesn't make sense to hike up prices in a down market, even on luxury goods. Presumably the U.S. isn't affected by the increase, but I'm just as glad I pulled the trigger yesterday on a new CSO. Besides the price, I get a funny feeling the CSO is due for a redesign one of these years, and given Breitling's more recent design trends, it's a good bet I won't like the changes.

Scoff all you want. Some Patek owners had to sell off some of the rivets in the Chris Crafts to be able to subsidize their acquisitions. It ain't purty at the top.

Well I just keep buying used or heavily discounted watches in sales anyway.

Disgusting though though it is, the increase will make little difference to me. I pay what I'm willing to pay and that sure isn't full RRP!
