I'm in the process of buying my first Breitling and I have hit a roadblock. I have had my heart set on a Navi-World, but i recently saw pictures of a Montbrillant Legend.

I really like the black dial on both with the bracelet.

I haven't heard much about the Montbrillant. If I choose the Montbrillant it will be model 127 because I am not a big fan of the gold hands.

I also like the fact that the Montbrillant is a 47mm instead of a 46mm of the world.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

If you've only seen pictures of the Legende then I would make a trip to the local AD to try one on. You would be surprised how much 1 mm can make in the way a watch wears. For me and my small wrists 46 mm is at the utmost upper limits but you of course you may be in an entirely different boat there and it might be a perfect fit for you. For me personally, I actually use the GMT function of my Navi World so it would have to be the World for me hands down.

Just my two cents. :D

I personally am not a fan of the Montbrillant Legend, something about the way the lugs flow into the bracelet just steer me away(JMO). I like the Navi World much better despite it being 1mm less than the Legend. Another thing is the fact that the bracelet is the only combo you can get compared to the World which has multiple combos.

Just my thoughts though, go with your gut man! :lingsrock:

If you're happy with only using the bracelet, then get the Legende.

The reason I went with the World, brown croc strap among many other choices.

Like br549 said, you need to try to get to an AD and try them both on. Personally I like the option of being able to switch up the look of the watch by changing from a bracelet to a strap so I'd go with the World if it was me. Plus I just like the looks of the World better.

:yeahthat The Monty Legende wears very different to the World IMO. I tried both years ago, and after having them both on my wrist it was an easy decision for me to go with the World. Plus IMO, the World's dial just seems to work better, as I hate the way the standard* SS Legende has gold hands, but silver baton markers. It just looks odd to me.

But you may have an entirely different reaction when you try them both on. But trying them on is the absolute key here.

EDIT - The LE version (like Montexn's shown on the post below) has matching colour hands and batons...... and looks much nicer for it IMO. :)

I'll throw in a contrarian view as I own a LE Montbrillant Legende and it's a gorgeous piece. I love the integrated bracelet and it is very comfortable on the wrist. The fact that the design of the Montbrillant Legende does not allow the ability to change it out to a strap was not a show stopper, then again I prefer bracelets normally anyhow over straps.

That being said, accessorizing your watches with various straps is a wonderful way to change the look and feel. This other road may be of interest or it may not, but that is up to the individual. Good quality straps can be a fun way to accessorize, but keep in mind that good quality straps are expensive in their own right.

No matter which model you decide on, one recommendation I would make is to try to get the bracelet at the outset and possibly negotiate getting a strap at the same time if they appeal to you. You can always get a strap later, but if you want to purchase a bracelet later it is a much more expensive proposition.

I think the Legend LE is the only option for me with that line. I don't like the gold hands. I'm going today to try both on again. I'll post me results when i get back.
