So I got my first Breitling a couple of weeks ago. Did a lot of reading on this site prior to that and found a ton of useful information. Now that I got it a have a couple of questions. First, it seems like the minutes hand is misaligned with the seconds hand. In other words, I set the minutes hand at a minute marker when the seconds hand is at 60. However, after 60 seconds the minute hand is not at the next marker. It's still before it as if 60 seconds have not passed. I'll add a couple of pics to illustrate. Second, I set the time to the time.gov time last night and after ~24 hours it appears that the watch is running ~9 seconds faster. I reset it again today and I will check it tomorrow. I did read something about "settlement/break-in" time in a couple of other topics. Is that the possible problem?

p.s. I'll upload the pics when photobucket comes out of maintenance. The watch is a new Navitimer World from an AD.

Give it a few weeks before you start worrying about timing issues.

As far as the hands not aligning, its normal and just the slack in the gear train. Try this: Say you want to set it to 5:00. Turn the hands to about 5:30, and then wind the minute hand backward to 5:00 and then push the crown back in. It should pick up the slack and with a steady hand you should be able to get the minute and second hands aligned pretty close.

I'm guessing from the fact that he said it was a Navi World that it's a Navi World :poke:

Thanks, the backward movement of the minute hand did fix the issue. This morning the watch was already ~5 sec ahead but I will give it time and see what happens. Curious how these watches get COSC certification if they need "break-in" time to run within the limits?

Here are some fresh pics:

Watches don't get COSC certificates, movements do.

The settling in is because the movement goes from consistent, controlled environments outside of a watch to being subjected to the real world inside of a watch.

I'll give RJRJRJ's trick a try next time. What I typically do on any 7750-ish movement is set the minute hand about 1/5 of a minute ahead and after the first second hand revolution it tracks just fine.

Congrats on the great :lingsrock:

Thanks all for the good words. Unfortunately, I am having some problems with the watch. From time to time when I press the top pushpiece "A" to restart the chronograph after interrupting it nothing would happen. It takes one or two more pushes to get it running again. Also, I just noticed that most of the times when it fails to restart the whole watch actually stops running and it starts again when I push the top pushpiece again. The chronograph restarts on the next push. The other issue is the reactions of the sweeping second hand upon restart of the chronograph. Seems like there are three different random scenarios when restarted.

1. The second hand resumes running as it was. (Guessing this is the normal function.)
2. The second hand jumps ahead ~1/3 of a second and resumes running as it was.
3. The second hand snaps back a tad bit and resumes running as it was.

Not sure if these are just normal operational quirks and I am just being too picky but the problem with the failing restart of the chronograph and the watch dying because of it seems substantial.

I am guessing the best thing to do is talk the AD and go from there?

Edit: When I said the minute hand I meant the sweeping second hand of the chronograph.

Yep.

The minute jump sounds normal - it's torque through the running train, but the chronograph stopping the watch sounds odd, definitely get it checked out - that's what the warranty is for.

Dropped off the watch at the AD today. The flaw of the chronograph stopping the watch actually happened while I was there. Turned out the GMT hand is misaligned too. I also mentioned the fact that it's running about as fast as it did when I got it three weeks ago. Couple of people including the rep who has been helping me all along were very surprised. Unfortunately, I looked around these boards and it seems like there are a number of people with this watch who have had issues with it. Anyways, I was told it's going back to Breitling for repairs and I'll get a call when it's back. Hopefully Breitling steps up and takes care of this as it is very disappointing. I'll post an update when I get it back.

A. Breitling will take care of it.

B. You have to realize that a lot of people come to online forums for the sole reason of complaining about a problem that they have. I can guarantee you that there are no "known" issues with the Navi World, and that the vast majority of owners experience no problems whatsoever.

Amazing watch and you will get a sweet little travel case with it on return! Breitling will take care of you without a question! Sucks to be without the great watch but try to be patient and when its back it will all be worth the wait! :lingsrock:
