I stumbled onto this awesome site and was hoping someone can answer a few questions for me. I just ordered a LE Airwolf (1 of 26 orders) through a sister squadron and was wondering if the dial will be sunburst (unsure of correct term), the newer lined version, or plain. Also, can someone confirm if I can expect the thermo-compenstated quarts movement as well. It was an easy decision either way, as the watch will be personalized with my unit and aircraft depicted on the dial at a greatly reduced price. The bummer part is that I have to wait 8-10 months for manufacturing/delivery. Any answers will be appreciated! Thanks...

All airwolfs are Thermocompensated SQ movements, so no need to speculate there. As far as sunburst or pinstripe dial, its impossible to say. With a run of 26 units, you must have been part of a special order through some type of group (i.e. an Air Force squaron or something like that). If its a recent order, it would likely be the pinstripe dial, but there is no way to know how old the watch is without knowing the details.

I'd say the dial is probably more likely to be totally flat in order to accomodate the logo printing better. The Reno LE's for example always use a flat dial with the pylon logo (and they look all the better for it IMO). But as RJ said there's no way to be 100% sure without speaking to Breitling direct.

Great, thanks for the quick replies. Our organizer said the dial format is very similiar to the Reno Air Races LE, we just didn't know if the Reno LE dial was pin stripe, sunburst or flat (we couldn't tell from the one pic example). And a few of us were wondering that if the dial format was different, we should expect any other internal instrument changes as well, i.e. quartz movement. Thanks again for quick reply!

All custom LE Airwolfs I'm aware of have a plain flat dial (no turbine or pinstripe) and baton markers.

Here's a better pic of the Reno air races edition. It's so much better than the standard model!
