Out of curiosity, is there a instructional video on how to change a bezel? Sorry, this may have been spoken about before.

1. Get a small, flathead screwdriver. Make sure its the correct size or you will damage the bezel screws.

2. Loosen all of the screws. If they dont loosen easily, tighten them a bit and then try to loosen them again. Do not remove the screws completely as they are a pain in the ass to put back in.

3. Lift off the bezel.

Notes: There is a flat metal click ring inside that gives the bezel its ratcheting action, and a thin metal retaining ring under the bezel. You should be able to figure out how to replace them.

I've always been afraid to do this because I feel that once I break that loctite seal, the screws will want to back out on me. Has that been your experience RJ?

Ive never reapplied the loctite and the screws have never loosened up on me. If youre worried you can always head to home depot and pick some loctite though. I actually have some but dont bother to use it.

Is the rail that the bezel rotates on (immediately surrounding the crystal) part of the case, or a separate part? I got a little scratch on mine on a blacksteel blackbird, and am wondering how difficult it will be to replace it.

It's called the chimney and it is part of the case.

It's called the chimney and it is part of the case.



and the single hardest thing to polish on a breitling!

I would prefer to have my AD do it. 5 minute job..

Should be free if you have a good relationship with them...

I know I would be able to do it my self but,IMO, why risk it...

Actualy the watch need to be dismantle and have the crystal removed
Dubt that your AD make it for free
But a water resistant service may include the fix of the ring

Sorry it doesn't. Not for a simple Bezel change. Its a 5 minute job for a ABD...

Sorry it doesn't. Not for a simple Bezel change. Its a 5 minute job for a ABD...

Absolutely correct. For the vast majority of Breitling watches (i.e. the Aeromarine, the Windrider and Professional models) changing the bezel is a simple job that does not require the crystal to be removed at all, and therefore does not compromise water resistance. The Navitimer series is the only range that does require crystal removal to change the bezel.
