Post subject: | Questions about my Colt |
Hi, A couple of years ago I received a Breitling Colt Chronograph as a gift. As I am a manual worker and rarely go out I haven't had much chance to wear my watch. I recently took it out of the case to wear and realised it had stopped. Please can someone tell me if the watch runs by battery? What are my options of getting it working again - do I need to send it to an authorised dealer? Any help appreciated. Thanks Ralf |

Some Colt's are quartz (battery) and some are automatic (mechanical), advice will depend on which you have. |

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. There are two numbers on the back of the watch, not sure which is the model number so here they both are. A73380 and in smaller writing 946880. Thanks |

Thanks Model number is A73380 and that's a quartz model, so if it's not running then it likely does need a new battery. If it's only a couple of years old then it shouldn't need a service, just take it to an AD (authorised dealer) and they'll look after you. I wouldn't take it just anywhere for a new battery, Breitling will use better quality batteries and will also check the seals, etc to ensure that there are no issues with water resistance after the change. |

Just a thought - the second number the OP posted was the serial number for his watch. Would it be advisable for him to delete it from his post, or is public posting of serial numbers not as risky as some people believe? |

There's no real risk on the watch, it's more to prevent fakers producing models with correct serial numbers. I wouldn't be particularly worried about it personally. |
