With the Navi Worlds... I understand that even though the watch say 30m(100ft) the watch shouldn't be worn in water (or even showered with from what I here) which is fine!

However, is it true that the more you use or turn the bezel, the looser it will get which will wear down the seal and basically ruin the WR even more?

Just thinkin here....

Thanks!

Water Resistance meanings is covered here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles ... ance.shtml

I have never heard of Navi WR getting worse through use of the bezel.

Don't know about that, I just won't get my navi wet, period. So its a moot point to me really, and probably to most other navi owners I imagine.
Why risk it?

I hear it get "loser" over time. Therefore it doesn't have "as much pressure" on the seal, resulting in EVEN LESS WR.

I agree with the whole why risk, but I was just curious.

It seems that you should not get it wet at all and you will not have an issue.

I would wonder about that myself. Most of the Navi's I've handled at ADs have a very tight bezel. I've even handled older used ones where the bezel did not turn at all (locked up). Maybe dirt and debris can work its way into the mechanism over time and cause additional friction (?). I owned another brand with an E6B 'friction' bezel and it locked up after about one year. I don't like this design. The bezels on the professional models seem to work better. My B2 still turns smoothly after 6 years.

Yes they get looser with time and certainly that can reduce W/R. BUT as noted above, the point is - who cares? If I was pushed into a pool with a BN just out of the box Navi on my wrist, the first stop would be the AD with overnight orders to BUSA.

+1.

@ mrcheatle. If I focused on little things like this I would go crazy. You are supposed to get enjoyment out of wearing watches...if not then you are just paying a lot of money for added stress and worry. I think that there comes a point when you can over analyze something. The navi is not made to be around water...either that is something that you are ok with or not.

I went to Govebergs A few months back and George had to NAvi Worlds there. The first one I handled the Bezel turned easily and smoothly, the other very tight! Why wouldn't they turn the same being that they are both new still?

Good question. I am guessing there is variance in the bezel friction/installation process. Or, one may have loosened up with some use at the AD as has been mentioned. I think one can conclude that they vary in their smoothness of operation. Do they ever 'settle in' at a particular level of smoothness? I don't know but I kind of doubt it. I just think you get variability in this friction design.

That is what i figured...but I still wonder because if they are all made the same shouldn't they operate the same? You think during inspection, QA would make sure they all are within a certain spec though(right?). I understand a little variation but the ones that I felt at Govbergs were night and day!

If someone has a drawing or can provide an insight as to which surfaces contact which and how the bezel assembly is constructed I might be able to lend some insight. Part of my work is very similar to this.
