Hey guys I am thinking about purchasing my first breitling. I am really interested in the breitling superocean with the rubber strap. Tourneau offered the watch to me for $1750. I was just wondering what everybodys thoughts are about this watch and if that is a fair price to pay for the superocean. ![]() |

I own a SuperOcean -- I'll let you guess which color ![]() As for price, I'm not really sure because most of the time I see that watch it's with a bracelet. My sense is it's a bit high, but I really haven't priced the rubber strap as the factory option. I will say that for a few hundred dollars more, you can probably get the watch on a bracelet, and have the AD throw in the rubber strap for free. So, if that interests you, that could be a bargaining chip. |

You could probably do better on the price. About $1675. would be a 20% discount, or around the same as a Colt Quartz. Not that there is anything at all wrong with the Colt Quartz, so please don't get the wrong idea. It just happens to be the lowest price men's Breitling. From the comments I have heard about Tourneau, I would be tempted to take my business elsewhere. There are a lot of excellent AD's out there, some a lot smaller than Tourneau, who would love to have your business. Once you establish a good rapport, you will come to rely on their good service for years to come. I put a diver pro strap on my SuperOcean, from 1997, and was very pleased with the look. I am a big fan of the Breitling rubber straps, though. If you want the PRO II, you can always get it later, it runs about $440. Whatever you do, one thing is certain: You will love your Breitling. Cheers, Carl |

I like the others also have a SuperOcean and it is a fantastic watch, you really can't go wrong with it. I have to agree with More Cowbell that the diver strap does dress it down, so buying it on a bracelet and having your AD throw in a free rubber strap might be good. Good Luck! |

The SuperOcean is a great watch. It was my first Breitling and after that I've got the addiction... However, as mentioned, the pric seems a bit high - especially if you have it on a rubber strap. If you already have tried the SO on, I'd recommend to stay with the SO decision but look around for other prices. |

List for the SO on rubber is $2075. I think somewhere around $1650 would be fair. You may even be able to do better. I would also steer clear of Torneau. Find another local AD from Breitling.com and ask them. Your best bet is to get the money ready, and show up in person. Tell them what you want and how much you want to pay. They can either do it or they cant--but will be more likely if they see that youre serious. Many AD's wont give you a price over the phone unless they know you or if you were referred by somebody that they know. I have an AD that can probably do it for under $1600. |
