Now that own a second Navi World I just thought I'd post something about the GMT hand as it seems to have got a bit of "bad press" from time to time on here.

I'm probably massively tempting fate here(!), but I've owned my blue dial World for close on 2 years, and I've been wearing my silver dial World for 4 out of the last 5 days since I got it, and I can safely say that I have had zero problems on either watch with the supposedly problematic GMT hand (or anything else for that matter).

Now I'm not saying that problems don't exist out there, but I do sometimes wonder if enough people read the instruction manual to fully understand how you adjust it, and how it operates. My AD told me a while back that they have had no World returns due to the GMT hand either.

As I say, I'm sure there must be one or two genuine issues out there, but my personal experience is one of total reliability.

So basically my message to any would-be World owners out there is don't let GMT horror stories put you off owning what is frankly a superb timepiece. Buy one, read the manual, and enjoy it!

Driver8,

My World GMT was not working and it is at the watchmakers now. I am by no means an expert on watches but it jumped all over the place and I read the manual several times and tried setting it dozens of times and it had a mind of its own. The Worlds are great watches though. Also one of my pushers would stick when starting the chrono and that is being repaired but I still love the watch and I will let you know how it is working when I get it back. I am just hooked on my SA for now but I want my other Ling back because you can never have too many Lings! The Nav World is a great watch an d the best looking Nav inmho. Enjoy yours.

Sounds like you've had a genuine run of problems there Naviman. What a pain. :( Really sorry to hear that, but I'm glad it's not put you off!

As I say, I'm sure there are the old problem or two out there just like there can be with anything mechanical, but I just wanted to put my own experience of the Navi World across, and undo a bit of the (IMHO) unfair bad press about the GMT hand.

Hope yours gets sorted with all haste!

I still have issues with mine, you can set it and it will run for a while, and the it will go back to malfunctioning.

I still love the watch and can't wait to get it back. Hopefully it will be perfect when I get it back and it will be like getting a new Ling lol! I know it was a freak thing and that Lings are great watches because the two other Lings I had before that were just great. Nothing gets me excited like a Ling! I am a Ling man for life... I will let you know how it is running when I get it back.

Driver8,

All I can say is GET A BRACELET on the SA IMMEDIATELY. You can get away with a Croco strap on an all gold Bentley or EVO but an SA with a Croco strap is just plain SICK ! You have taken the FULLEST of the FULL LINGS and turned it into a Half Ling !

Just between you and me Ling Man, I've seen a black dial SA (on the Pro II bracelet) in a shop that isn't my usual AD, and I'm actually tempted to snap it up. I quite fancy a pair of SA's now.

Driver8,

If you want other models like the Nav World on a strap and a bracelet too it's ALMOST tolerable, but ANY SA on anything but a Bracelet is clearly a sign that you are in need of counseling. If getting the Black dial SA is what you can pull of for now it's an improvement but the other one needs to be put on a bracelet too. The SA looks like a big pie baking pan on a strap, it's too big to look balanced and symmetrical on a strap and especially if the strap is tan or brown. I thought we had you straightened out lately. You should also be looking into that Bentley GMT on the integrated bracelet, I'm hoping that one is thicker than my Bentley Motors and if it is I will be picking one up soon.

 Ling Man, as you know I like a bit of variety on my Breitlings in terms of bracelet and croco straps. I think the World and SA are such great watches that I can justify a pair of each, but only if they look pretty different from each other. The white dial SA on the brown croco looks superb! The croco strap is so thick it balances the head out very nicely.

I think you should try one Ling Man! You never know, you might be a changed man.

 Yeah but I don't think he'd admit it even if he did!

I think Ling Man must've had a nasty experience with a leather watch strap when he was younger. It's the only way I can explain his hatred of all things strapy!

Driver8,

You weren't around here last spring when I sent in a video of all my Croco Shoes and Belts. Some of the old guys like Admin and Sportback could tell you about it. I happen to be quite an aficionado of Croco goods and we happen to have one of the best places on the planet here in South Florida to buy them in Palm Beach. I'm also into fine suede and leather jackets and I have expanded my shoe and belt collection to include many Lizard and Ostrich items too. I was using a program that has not been working when I made that video so it's too bad I can't resend it up there but I don't have any problems with anything "Strapy" as you put it. I just know that Super Avengers belong on the Pro 2. Now remember that a while back we had a problem getting you to even recognize the virtues of LARGE Lings so it looks like we will just have to keep working on you about all these abberated strap combinations resulting in degraded Super Avengers. I have complete confidence that you will see the light, just hang in there.

I started reading your post Ling Man, and thought for a moment you were going to say that you had a video of youself being savaged by a gator or something, and that was the reason behind your croco strap hatred.....

Yeah, I know my previous large Breitling prejudice is well documented, but as I've said before - my hypocrasy knows no bounds! I'm just a mass of contradictions!

I've gotta agree.

The Super Avenger just looks bad ass on a bracelet.

Heavy metal!!!
