I was wondering, when you guys switch out your bracelet for a leather or rubber strap, do you use the same spring bars that were used with the bracelet? Thanks!

No, the spring bars that come with the bracelet are thinner in diameter than those designed for use with straps. You could use the same ones (in other words it won't fall off or anything!) but the since the strap is a natural material the holes in the strap are not always the same size, so the thinner spring bars are likely to mean there will be more play in the strap.

Also I guess over time the thinner bar may cut through the leather more, so reducing it's lifespan.... maybe.

Just to be safe get some of the thicker ones from your AD. They will usually give them away free.

Does anyone know the diameter of the holes on the rubber and leather straps? I found some spring bars on ebay, and there are 1.50mm and 1.78mm versions. Which should I get? Thanks!

Ummm...

I use the same springbars switching between bracelet and rubber dive strap. Will I have to go to Breitling jail?

You know, now that Driver8 mentions it I remember reading something about two different springbars over onTZ, with some very detailed pictures (from Ron, I believe). But it never occurred to me not to use the same ones.

I use the same ones for my proII and my rubber.

Only real thing to look out for, is the location of the notches that you push on. If you use the bars that have the notches too close to the center of the bar, on a rubber strap, you wont be able to get the strap back off because the notches will be completely covered by the rubber (they are all going to be covered though...its just a matter of how covered they are gonna be.
