I noted a lot of comments in another thread where people were quite excited someone got a low number in the LE. Why? It makes no difference to me, other than of course 1; the number unless it is your favourite number. It won't increase the accuracy of it, so what's the big deal?

I think it would be awesome to have 2000/2000. Last of the LE baby! Better than 10/2000 IMO, other than 1, I can't see why lower is better.

Enlighten me please!

Generally speaking people find lower numbers, or the very last in the series, to be more desirable. Sure, it won't increase the price or anything, but if there's a choice I'd go for the lowerest available. To me, number 15/2000 is more desirable than 1532/2000 for example.

In the first Steinhart LE I took the last one (15) over the low numbers that were available (3 or 4 I think), because I feel that the last one is second only to the first one.

After that, I too like the idea of a low number, but not for any practical reason, and certainly not for resale as I don't sell watches - it's just something personal that I prefer a low number, but wouldn't pay extra for it unless it was number 1.

Some societies do place values on specific numbers - to the Chinese the number 8 is significant so a Chinese collector would pay more for number 8, 88 or 888.

As the other more Sr. WIS folks have stated , the number probably will not increase the value other than if it has some significance with the buyer. It is more a matter I think of personal preference and I too would prefer the lowest number possible or the last for the same reasons stated above. It is more of a prestige thing I imagine for some of us to have a lower number out of blah blah available , but does it translate to being worth more....probably not .

I've heard this too and I honestly have no idea. I know my Breitling Rep had #6 or so (I don't remember whether it was 5, 6 or 7) of the Skyland Blacksteel!

I think I'd be all about that.

I ordered my Navitimer before Grigoros (the Canadian distributor) had ordered any pieces so mine is coming directly from Breitling SA. I guess I'll find out what they hold back at headquarters

i dont think the LE number would cause me to change my mind on a watch if i liked it. however there are some numbers that i like. things like 4 or 7 or 147, 747,444, 777 etc.

Yes a "wrong" number (if there is such a thing!) would never stop me from buying a watch if I liked it either. BUT if there's a choice of lower number then that's what I'd go for.

I doesn't make a difference for me, but I thought it was cool that I got #47 of the SA BS, which is my age. Other than that, if you like the watch, that's all that matters.

i want number with 8 , 18 , 666 or 888 but not those with 4 onwards , but o well it the watch thats matter not the numbers . once i did even try finding my birthday number as well but that is NOT going to happen .

As long as it doesn't have lots of "4"s, which when the day comes I need to sell, would make it next to impossible to sell in the Asian markets, which is the happening market now. (does that even make any sense?? )

I never cared for SN in LE.

The ones I bought - I didn't really have an option to choose SN, as there was only one watch offered to me
