Well guys, I have to share an awesome Breitling experience from this past weekend. I was fortunate enough to attend the Pensacola Naval Aviation Blue Angel Show which included many other planes as well as the Breitling stunt plane. This is the third year now that Breitling and my local AD have sponsored the event. They were gracious enough to also bring along the new Navi Limited B01 and the Chrono Limited B01. I have to admit that it was pretty tough not to run straight to the case and grab the Navi before even saying hello to my AD and the Breitling Team. I actually attended the event last year, but must say that I wasn’t nearly as excited to see last year’s new models. When I finally got my hands on the new Navi, I knew it was the “One.” After all of the excitement leading into the premier of new models each of the past few years, and in my case the frustrations that followed; holding the new Navi, I was truly excited about Breitling again! The Chrono is also gorgeous and I really like the brushed look, but the Navi having the new in-house movement with display back on Breitling’s signature model (IMO) was a no-brainer. This watch is a true collectable.

Also, to top off the weekend I was invited to fly with Paul on the Breitling stunt plane. All I can say is WOW! It was one of the most amazing experiences that I’ve ever had. I was super excited when I found out I would be flying, and up until they strapped the parachute on my back that excitement started turning to nervousness, but I can’t say enough about Paul and how he handles each guest. As soon as we made it to the runway, he let me know that any trick we would do would be described to me in detail beforehand. This really helps when you have no idea of what’s about to happen. The flight included barrel rolls, loops, flying upside down, and even where the plane is flown straight up until the plane losses speed and just starts falling back down. Luckily, I didn’t have any issues with sickness and was able to take full advantage of the experience.

I can’t thank Breitling enough, the air show was great, the flight was amazing, the Breitling Reps especially Josh were super cool to hang with, and Barry from Beres for making all of this happen. They really made a lifetime Breitling enthusiast out of me. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I hope you guys enjoy the pics…

Also if you were wondering, I did make that Navi purchase and the #5 of 2000 will be on my wrist once the Navi bracelet gets here…can’t wait!

WOW!!!! What a day, and what a watch. :wowzers

Picking up no. 5/2000 will be one hell of a way to remember that day forever. Congrats!

The only downside is that your great looking Navi World will have to lose some wrist time. :D

Harry,

That is one wonderful experience you had and will remember for the rest of your life. I can't imagine flying in a plane and doing those acrobatic maneuvers, good thing you didn't have any sick-up issues. That new Navi is very nice and what a bonus getting such a low number in the series, that is outstanding. Enjoy your new shiny bauble and wear it with pride.....she's a beauty.

Holy cow! What a day! Thanks for the great pics. I'm guessing you'll be keeping that Navi for a while.
Did you have to commit to the new watch before or after the flight? Ha!

As someone with a little flying experience as a pilot in small planes I can really understand the excitement and thrill of your experience, congratulations!

Fantastic day, fantastic pics, fantastic watch. What a coup to get No. 5. With the weather grey and drab here in Oregon, I especially envy your ability to have such great weather for the experience. I have mixed feelings about that bracelet. On the one hand I kind of like it on its own terms, but I don't think it goes particularly well with the traditional look of a Navitimer. Did the dealer trade out the bracelet for you, or did you have to buy a replacement?

Congratulations - one of the first (if not the first) North American Navitimer B01s, and a great day to boot.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you appreciate it. I definately had BreitlingSource in mind when I was able to take the photos.

Roff,
I was told that this was currently the only piece in the states, but who knows.

FYI- I was scheduled to fly before actually seeing the watches, but in all honesty, it didn't hurt in making the decision to purchase

As for the bracelet, I was able to change it out without purchasing with the current band. The band it's on now isn't bad looking, but just not my style, and there was no question it would either be on a black croc or stainless band and as you can see from the pics I already have the Navi World on brown croc, so figured I would change it up with the stainless.

I know we buy these things for ourselves and we try not to boast too much, but I would be hard pressed not telling anyone who would listen that I have the first NaviB01 stateside.

:yeahthat If you got it, flaunt it. Just not in areas where injudicious flashes of horological excellence will likely result in you getting mugged.

Harry congrats young man... It was pretty cool having the first Navi 01 in the USA at our event and even better when we found out it was confirmed that it would be yours. We had to pull some strings to make it happen, but once we negotiated the Navi making the USA tour for the balance of 2010, number 5 was yours... There were a lot of disappointed folks at the chalet when they found out #5 was spoken for. I was just proud we were able to deliver the first Navi 01 in the USA. Still can't believe you scored #5 man! It was an amazing show as usual and the folks at BUSA did a hell of a job representing the brand.

Flying in the Extra 300 must have been awesome! I think we only had one individual get sick... The Chronomat 01 with exhibition back was a hit also... That brushed finish is pretty sweet! The Blackbird Red Strike was a favorite and the solid red gold B01 turned some heads also.

Next year is gonna be off the charts! The 100 years of Naval Aviation will be celebrated the entire year of 2011 and Breitling is a major player in the centennial celebration. Dang it's great to carry this brand!!!

See ya soon!
Barry

What an amazing day. Thank you so much for sharing the pics and the story. I'm terribly envious of your Navi 01. I want mine to hurry up and get here!
