Looks like I'll be in the market for a new Breitling soon. Among the following models, which one would you be most likely to recommend, and why?

Chronomat (Evolution)
Blackbird
Chronomat 01 (B01)
Galactic 41
Chrono Galactic

Don't even put the Galactic models on the same thread IMO. The Blackbird has the faceted pilot bracelet. One of our members has the Black-eye-blue brushed model which I've heard may be up for sale soon.

Dont remind me....I am hating myself for not having the free cash flow right now.

Sorry for the thread jack,....

Of the options I think the Blackbird is the no-brainer, unless having the B01 is a huge thing. which judging by your options it is not. Go for the Bird!!!!

If I didn't put them here, I wouldn't have gotten your reaction, which I find informative.

Any particular opinion on which finish/dial color? I tend to side with the traditional view that the BB should be brushed/black, but I find I actually like the flash of the polished Chronomat.

B01 if it were me. Fresh, shiny, B01 calibre.

I agree that the galactic models are definitely out.
The other three options are very, very similar to each other (except for the B01 movement), so I think you should just buy the one that you personally like the most.

Brushed Blackbird or the Chronomat 01 LE also brushed. As you can tell, not a big fan of so much bling - all polished too much for me.

Like the black dials with red accents for a more sporty look.

Good luck with your decision!

The Blackbird gets my vote.

The Evolution is a fine piece, but it's rather common. The Galactic is too dull in my opinion.

The Blackbird just stands out and screams wear me.

Buy what you personally like and can afford and not what other people like. You are the one that is going to wear it.

Agreed, but I still like to see what other people think. For instance, in a different thread, Roff said he thought the 01 would become dated; I'm not sure whether or not I agree with him, but the mere fact he said it got me to thinking about it, which is a good thing. In the end, I'll make my own decision, but to the extent the guys here can give me things to consider that I might not have thought of on my own, my decision will be a better informed one.

On that note, thanks, everybody, for your input. Much appreciated.

The B01, it´s a future classic for sure, as it´s the first model that got the new inhouse movement. And a stunning piece of art at that.
