I haven't seen any mention as to plans on which Diver they are going to put the new B01 in. Has anybody heard? Which model would ya'll want to see it in? I'm thinking the Avenger Seawolf would be the likely candidate. It seems that the venerable Sub and DSSD are the ones everyone is pitted against; so would this move give Breitling a chance at competing with the DSSD or Submariner if they did? Obviously the depth ratings of the AS blows them out of the water, but in reality it is meaningless since the record for a person scuba diving is just over 300+ meters and in the assisted category wearing a "Jim" suit or "Newt" suit, a depth of 1000 meters. ![]() "Jim" Suit ![]() "Newt" Suit Now I don't know about ya'll, but I'm pretty sure most of us aren't going to be exploring the depths in a "Jim" suit, much less will any of us be scuba diving to depths of 300+ meters. I would also wager that most "Dive" watches aren't ever used as their namesake is derived. All that being said does Breitling stand a chance of competing against Rolex's dive models with the new B01 movement? |

Nothing has been announced. The problem right now is that all of the divers are in the Aeromarine range which is the 'value' range and therefore not exactly in line with an inhouse movement. No clear indication of where the TransOcean is going and I do wonder if we will see a split in the Aeromarine range into two separate elements. That would allow for the TransOcean and perhaps an in house SuperOcean Heritage to be in a new range. Alternately there may be a new watch (like the TransOcean), the SuperOcean II would have been an opportunity to do it, but that was clearly also aimed at the value end of the market. Alternately, perhaps we'll see Seawolf / Steelfish, etc moving towards the SuperOcean II design cues (though hopefully with a proper diving bezel) and there may be some opportunities there. I'm guessing that the next wave of announcements will be at Basel. |

Tough call. When I think of a dive watch, I don't usually think of all the chronograph functions as well functional. It should be more rugged. That makes the B01, as much as I love it an unlikely candidate in it's current form, IMHO. |

With fashion in mind and the finish work done on the new B01 and applied to another comparable beautifully finished in-house piece to drop in one of their Divers, it would be nice to see them show it off with a DB. It sure would pit them against 1 of the Swatch family companies that make a nice in-house movement for their Diver and show of the finish work with a DB. Glashutte Original's Sport Evolution Panorama Date with their in-house 39-42 movement is a beautiful Diver. It would be nice to see Breitling come up with something along these lines. I agree there needs to be something a little more between the current divers like SO II and B01. I love the B01, but at the end of the day, an 8k watch is more than I can & will do. While the 3-4 range is very in my liking, I figure I will have to wait for them to come down used! At the same time, the bezel on the SOII is so-so to me, but the hands are great. There is just one little thing stopping me from saying, "That is the one!" I'm more of a function guy, I need something that is durable, masculine, almost simple but executed superbly. Hence my love of the silver dial Colt auto II. Then up from that, the Chronomat silver dial w/ batons. Though they may start to look dated, they are still more to my liking then the styling on the B01. But the B01 is undeniably attractive. Regardless I will not go away from a Ling. I will simply be patient. Tough call! |
