Hi,
I have a new SA. I was told by the Official Breitling Distributor that it was perfect for swimming/snorkeling/etc. I liked the size too because it is easier to read under water. I would have also liked to time how long I would be under the water for. From what I have read here recently; it seems that I cannot use the stop watch feature in the water because water will go into the watch if I depress the buttons. Is this true? If so, I am disappointed. If a cheap watch can do it, for the $$$ Breitling should too...... Is this true too of other brands like Rolex?

Very few mechanical watches, regardless of price, have pushers that are operational under water. This includes Rolex. If you need to time your dives, you need to use the bezel.

seawolf chrono (super quartz) has the magnetic pushers that are fully functional under water.

Thanks for your responses! I was aware of that the quartz movement's magnetic pushers, however they are not as valuable, desirable, or have the longevity that an automatic movement has. You mentioned that Rolex has the same problem, I wonder if that applies to the Deep Sea model too?

DS has no pushers.

Other than the Seawolf Chrono (and other magnetic pushers) there are very few chronographs that are functional under water. If you seriously want to time your dives/under water time use a G-Shock or Suunto or Pathfinder or the like.

I was out for dinner and I realized that the Deep Sea was not a chrono too....lol Sorry about that.....I still think though for thousands of $$$ the technology should be there
