I thought owning a Blackbird and blue SA I'd be cured, but not even close! :lingsrock: I can't get a black 6.75 on speed out of my brain and as much as I try to be happy, I feel I have to have this... even if it brings me down to a 1 watch guy! I do have a question though.... Do many Breitling dealers take watches in for trade? I would guess at least a few do, and that's the catch 22 for me, my BB is so mint I don't even want to wear it to get the most I can on resale/trade-in. I would imagine a private sale for the cash is still the way to go but I would feel so much better doing the deal with an AD. I guess the bad part is dealing with an AD it would definitely take both my watches, and I'm not even sure that would be enough. Maybe I'll have to look at a good used 6.75.

Anyway, it's a drag in one way to want this watch, but also something to look forward to, and maybe it will happen this Spring. :D

I actually just made sort of the opposite decision to buy a no-diamond version of the watch I wanted so that I could have two instead, but if you know having the Bentley on a daily basis would make you happier than having a more varied collection of other watches, you should definitely pursue it-- it's an amazing watch, and definitely a real statement aesthetically.

If you want to optimise your return on the ones you're selling and you think the AD won't give you as good a price as a private sale, you could always try an auction site with a high reserve? If it sells for a better price, great, but if not you can just take it to the SA and get the same price in an environment you're happier with.

I know exactly what you mean about the drawback of wanting something and thinking about it all the time, but I think some people are just driven to always be on the hunt for new things! I like to think the drive for something better is what's gotten mankind to the point we're at today. (At least, that is what I tell myself when I am justifying another purchase?) Good luck with getting the watch you're dreaming of!

Thanks and I agree with everything you said. I do the Ebay thing on a regular basis so that will probably be the best option, then throw the extra cash in. I don't think I can part with both, so will trade the BB for the Bentley. Maybe I'm a fool for thinking this will be the last one for a very long time, but I believe it will be. Up until maybe a year and a half ago the most I had ever spent on a watch was $600.

PS... I also have taken a liking to Hublot. :uplaugh: AP too, but I have to stay real.

Many ADs welcome trades. A few - read Tourneau - actually encourage it. Ask them about discount and the training book says, "Offer to take a trade against full retail. Claim it is a better deal." :guns: Tourneau

Not likely you can trade both straight up for the Bentley. It will take some cash.

There have been several 6.75's on the buy/sell recently. See what you can do with regards to the pricing.

Watch disease is a powerful animal! I haven't "suffered" it for too long. My purchase today is only my second "good" watch-- I also have a Chopard that I got about four months ago, and I am now eyeing a Tag and a Chanel, but I'm stopping there, I swear! Really. Except I think it's one of those things like tech where once you start, it's a steady slide...

(We won't talk about AP or Patek. I don't have dream watches at all.)

I think you might be right about holding onto the SA-- it is nice to have a change and they're fairly different looking for being of a similar style, which is always beneficial.

You should better stick to the original, copies are always cheaper  :)
