Post subject:  Breitling "Hand-Tag" Color - Does it mean anything?

Quick Question Gents,

Does the Breatling Hand-Tag (the colored plastic circular tag and string) mean anything or have any value to the overall associated watch?

I just ordered two Breitling Colt IIs with Silver Bands for my girlfriend and mother (I guess the ladies are wearing small mens watches these days). Both watches were purchased through and Authorized Dealer and contain a full authenticity certificate and associated paperwork/boxes… BUT one watch has a YELLOW Hand-Tag with a red string and the other has a GREY Hand-Tag with a black string…

What is the difference, should I be concerned with something?

Thanks

~tge

All is well with both. There have been a few people here reporting that black COSC tags are now coming with their Breitlings. No biggie.

Just realised- I didn't get a tag with my watch! Its a chronomat evolution- should I be worried? Should I go back and ask for one?

As long as you have a COSC cert, and warrenty card that matches the serial number on your watch you should be just fine. You can contact your AD about getting a tag. My watch didn't come with a COSC cert and my AD in PA (may it R.I.P) was happy to send it along to me in Chicago.

Thanks for the quick reply :lingsrock: - I know its not a big deal really but I think I'll go into the AD and get a hang tag!! I never got a bezel protector either- is that something worth trying to get? I mean I haven't seen one- would it be worth refitting it to the watch when the watch is in the storage box? Or is the bezel protector a throw away piece of packaging?

Ive purchased multiple Breitlings, including special order pieces that were never displayed, and have never gotten a bezel protector. Id say the large majority of us have not gotten them. Not sure if the ADs take them off or if a lot just dont come with them, but its not uncommon not to get one.

Yep the black hang tags i've seen on new pieces in the ADs, i wouldn't have thought they (and bezel protectors) have any significant value - just that its "nice to have" to complete the package.

They usually write the model & serial numbers on the reverse of the tags don't they.

BUSA is using the black hang tags on new watches that are coming into the ADs. They are also coming with bezel protectors. If I were purchasing a watch, a yellow hang tag means the watch has been in the case for longer than the black hang tags. I would use this information to help bargain a better price on the 'older' product. The black tags are a relatively new policy so I am not exactly sure how it would go over at this point, maybe in a few months it would be more effective.

My ling was ordered from CH for me, and the AD broke the seal and opened the box in in front of me.
There was no bezel protector
