I'm relatively new to The Breitling brand and just wanted to know from you guys what the correct pronunciation is for the name? I mean I've heard the following being thrown around at different ADs: - "Bret"-Ling - "Bright"-Ling (very appropriate given their blingy-ness lol) - "Brate"-Ling |

I know I am wrong but it still feels more natural to go with Bree'tling. Maybe it is the redneck Texas in me coming out though. |

OR, as some translation programs seem to think when an English speaking person attempts to translate a Japanese web site, it comes across as "Bright-ring"..... (Sorry. I just had to do that) |

I still say Breet-ling, even though I know it's wrong. Fact is nobody I know can really correct me about it since none of them own one or have even heard of them. |

I say "bright-ling", but for some strange reason, whenever I read the word, I read it in my head as "brate-ling". I know its wrong, and I would never call it that out loud...not sure whats wrong with me ![]() On a side note, the most common mispronunciation I hear is "brett-ling". |

http://www.chronometrie.com/watchsounds/watchsoundspage.htm The answer to all your watch pronunciation needs. You guys are killin' me with this Breetling and Britling stuff. In German the first vowel is typically silent and the second is pronounced as a long vowel. I think I learned that in High School German from Frau Sittig (the "Iron Frau"). B!?ch flunked me my 8th semester of German for cutting class too much so I would have to take foreign language in college. Can you believe that?? Not that I'm still bitter about it. Not at all. |
