Post subject:  Ti Chrono Avengers are starting to become quite scarce....
I could be wrong but I have been trying to find a nice pre-owned example and they seem to have become very thin on the ground. With alot of brands like Omega and Breitling moving away from Titanium as a watch making material I guess this will continue to be the case. I ended up buying a Skyland Avenger but I still find myself wanting it's Titanium predecessor...... :?

I can't say I agree. They pop up on eBay fairly frequently and you can get them for pretty reasonable prices.

That maybe the case in the US but here in the UK I do see them on ebay but people are asking top money for them now.

I kind of agree, we do see some here on the UK on the bay, but a lot of them are very scruffy, mostly on rattley Pro1 bracelets. Even some newer M1's seem to be battered :(

Thinking of parting with my ti m1 avenger very soon if anyone is interested? Only 5 months old on a pro2. Barely worn.

Sounds like a great watch for somebody, pity it's not the regular Automatic Chrono Avenger or I would have been all over it.

I agree with Shalako, they are becoming more and more scarce in the UK for decent ones, I really regret selling my last one, I sold it and bought an Avenger Skyland, whilst a great watch in its own right it's no Chrono Avenger. Mine was mint too after having had a full overhaul and new crystal at BUK.

Oh well, we live and learn!

Ther Pretty nice, I have 2 one Yellow that I'm keeping and another one with the Anthracite dial both in Pro 2 Bracelets, I love them, I had to search a lot to find this 2 great examples in near new condition.

That's why I bought mine this year. Thought they were all gone by now.
When I brought my TAG in for battery/re-seal service and saw that my local authorized dealer had one last M1, I had to get it. :drool:
Initially put off by the yellow/black dial, I realized how much it helped with readability. After laser eye surgury, I lost clear short-vision without glasses.

Super Avengers are nice, but I can't deal with the weight of the steel case. So it's sad that Breitling has discontinued Ti in big Chrono's. I think someday they will be back.

I love my watch, however it has been in for major Factory repair twice . Still waiting for return on it actually. It's been at CT service center more than I've owned it. The Chrono module keeps failing. Minute hand gets stuck, fails to return to 12 o'clock. I told my dealer I want answers this time on why it's failing. If this keeps up I'm going to sell it. :evil:

Love mine (2004) but wanted to freshen up the Titanium and read about Scotch-brite and fiberglass pens thought there must be a better way and found this article at TZ by an engineer who had a Ti Panerai and wanted to get the desk diver marks and light scratches off his watch, he was laying in bed one night and thought of using a pencil/ink eraser and it worked like a champ! Gave it a shot and did the case a bracelet it took about 1/2 of the eraser on a pencil and about an hour of time! The watch looked awesome and all the lite service scratches and oxidation where gone,

Titanium Scratch Removal

Having seen and participated in so many posts here and elsewhere on this subject (saw another one in TZ today), the curiosity had to get the better of me and it did. I kept thinking about it in bed last night and being a trained Engineering professional went through a deduction process, starting with the properties of Titanium and etc. etc. Having convinced myself it had to be possible, I got up at midnight, picked up my PAM0061 and looked for an ink eraser and some ultra-fine modelling grit paper. I experimented on the crown bridge figuring that at worst, this could be replaced entirely, rather than the case itself. I used the ink eraser first as it was the least aggressive, and it worked so remarkably well that I just kept with it (did not use grit paper). Surface scratches, minor dings and nicks were removeable. I proceeded with the rest of the watch and 5 hours later, I was holding in my hand a fully restored PAM0061! I developed a technique to finish off the surfaces so that there were no color differences between the oxidized and fresh surfaces. It did not alter the finish of the watch at all. True: Showed it to my wife who was aware of the scratches and nicks, and she thought I bought a new watch. Well, I did later in the day but that's a different story - see other post.

So, at least I have answered this question for myself and am well pleased with the results. There must be more elegant and professional ways than mine, which have been somewhat elusive (trade secret?). Time and patience is the real key here for good results, and I think this is why no service center will do it. Not sure why they don't just say that.

That's the story then, but for details read on.

I am providing the process of what I did, but the usual caveats and disclaimers must apply. I am sharing my personal experience (and NOT providing advice or instructions) on the Titanium finish that is found on the Panerai Luminor Marina Titanium PAM0061 and therefore cannot be responsible for any misdemeanors. I was also afraid I might be breaking Forum rules here, but I read it again and it didn't seem to be so (and Guy may correct me or censor this as appropriate)

Tools: B&L 5X Eye Loupe, Ink Eraser (blue), soft toothbrush, Cadie jewelry cloth, hair blower.



Steps

1. Cleaned watch (straps removed) using toothbrush with water and mild LIQUID hand soap.

2. Dried watch with hair blower.

3. Rubbed damaged surface using eraser with light pressure, in the direction of the brush finish.

4. Routinely inspected the defect with eye loupe on progress. Important as this helped me learn what it takes and does! Patience, patience, patience.....I found that more pressure doesn't mean faster but slowly got the feel of the optimum pressure with routine inspection with eye loupe.

5. Regularly cleaned debris from surface with fingers and tissue paper.

6. I set the standard of "good enough" when not visible to naked eye at 6 inches, and barely or not visible with 5X.

7. When finished, washed the watch again with toothbrush in water and mild LIQUID hand soap. Dried using hair blower.

8. Cleaned watch with "light cloth", which evens out the color of the surfaces, polish with "dark cloth" per instructions of the Cadie Jewelry Cloth (many other similar "two piece" jewelry cloths).

9. Done
