Ok, so my frst Breitling I purchased was a Superocean II, blue with both the bracelet and the rubber strap. I keep it on the rubber most of the time and have only changed over to the bracelet a few times. I would like to wear the bracelet more often but the problem is that when I change the rubber out using the proper Bergeon tool I am making scratches to the inside of the polished lugs. I addition, I am causing damage to the back side of the case between the lugs when chaning the bracelet in. These scratches are from the spring bar.

Yeah i know you can't see them when wearing the watch but I want to aviod this problem from becoming worse. I have cape cod cloths too, but the scratches are more that superficial. Masking tape for brecelet changes? Any Ideas? Ill try to post pics soon.

A Few Breitlings.

I personally use a few layers of sellotape on the top of the lugs to give added protection when performing any strap changing. With that, and a fair bit of care, it's more than possible to change a strap without damage to top of the lugs.

It's almost impossible to avoid scratches on the inner surface of the lugs as the spring bar generally has to slide around a little to find the hole sometimes, but those you will never see when the strap is in place.

I use masking tape on the lug bottoms (part of lug you see when watch is turned over to access springbar with tool) and that helps with that area. I don't worry about inside of lugs where springbar holes are located - tough to protect this area.

You should be able to have them buffed out professionally. Figure to pay like $50 or so. To avoid them in the future, you can either use masking tape (blue painters tape is great) or just not allow the spring bars to slide against the lugs.

Masking tape and I was a dremel tool with a polishing wheel and some compound and it takes all the scratches out of a polished service or use a scotch-brite pad if it is a brushed case!

Yep hard to avoid.
I got a few scratches on my SA yesterday when installing my new DPII clasp strap.

Didn't help because I had to take the springs out 4-5 times to size the strap.
Tried to minimalize it by pressing the spring bar with the bourgeon and not letting it scratch but it's very difficult to avoide when putting the spring bar back in because you need to move it around to find the hole.

Sounds like a personal problem big guy

I find it difficult to put the Pro2 bracelet on my avenger. I find that if i fit the spring bar into its hole first, i can't get the end piece slotted into the watch head. But if i slot the end peice into the watch head first, i can't get the spring bar to contract enough to fit in. Does that make sense? How do you guys do it? Am i missing something obvious?

You need to have both ends of the springbar between the lugs before you seat in the holes.
