I was wondering if breitlings are tough and can take outdoor military use. I was not sure if they were fragil like rolexs or built

I was thinking I would grab one in the event of a diaster like huricane Katrina. It would give me something valuable that I could trade if need be. I am looking at the Montbrillant Legende and was wondering if these are tough hardcore watches made for hard use?

Will it survive a drop in mud, water, sand, dirt, dust etc?

The "toughest" will be in the Aeromarine range. The Navitimers DO NOT hold up well around water. The Seawolf is water resistant to 10,000 feet and the Steelfish is rated to 6,600'. You may want to take a look at them.

Navitimer range is certainly the most fragile - all of the others have cases that are designed for more shock resistance, and generally more water resistance. As rebel_1 says the Aeromarine range will be the most rugged.

Breitling as a form of currency... I like it. To answer your question: my Aerospace looks brand new after 2.5yrs and two flying deployments to Afghanistan. I hardly ever remove the watch, so overall I would say that it is extremely reliable a resistant. What I like best is that I really only need to set the watch twice a year and I will still be exactly on time (drifts about 2sec every 6 mo).

Breitlings are tough as nails but so are Rolex subs, sea dwellers and gmt master II, its what they are made for but if you're in the mud and worried about scratching up the stainless case and bracelet you might be better off picking up a gshock!

I wear my Superocean in the field. It's held up fine.

I think the perfect choice for military use is the superocean, the superocean II or colt automatic II.
The avenger model seems tougher than superocean, but they are bigger and thicker.

They are, but even more suitable are quartz models.

How much could you have done to it if you only got it yesterday? I know that you said that you are in Port Dover, but it's not Friday the 13th :poke:
