Hi, I'm from Belgium and looking to buy a Breitling. There are some intrested sellings here that i would like to buy. Only my money is my savings and i would like to be sure it's safe to buy a watch of + € 2000 - $ 2500 via the internet. So, any tips and information about safe buying a Breitling in this forum would be welcome. Looking forward to buy one and thanks for the help. regards |

There is a feedback section so you can see which sellers have good feedback, and if you wish contact previous buyers for comments. You can be sure that any watch you see advertised here is real - we don't tend to let the fakes stay around for too long ![]() |

If you prefer lots of pics, great references, and top condition watches then I would say shopping the forum here is a good idea. Some of the other forums aren't bad either, but regardless the WIS community makes ebay look like a back alley deal for stolen goods. |

To the OP, I was concerned when I bought my watch off of here. Like Roff said, check out the seller and don't worry about it being fake, these guys don't let that stand. |

If I were going to buy a preowned Breitling, this forum is the first place I would look. In my experience the people on this site know more about 'lings than any other place. |

You are being too harsh to eBay sellers. Many watches in my collection were acquired on eBay, I have other interests (collectables, electronics, etc) and been buying from eBay since 2000. I had couple bad experiences, one recent bad watch deal, but overall I enjoyed eBay as much as watch forums. In addition, many of the seller who list their for sale on watch forums also list on eBay. I agree that beginner collector is better off buying his first watch here or from other watch forums, but once you become more experienced and learn enough about watches - I would keep eBay in mind as well. |

I"m not saying that everything being sold on ebay is crap or that everyone selling on there is a cheat, but I find that I, personally, am more comfortable shopping for a watch on a WIS forum like this one or WUS or TZ. Granted that there are people everywhere that may try to cheat you, but there seems to be a more personal aspect to these forums that help keep the "bad guys" out. If that makes any sense. |

Very true. Ebay can be a very useful tool once you get e better eye for the details, and expectations. But as roman said, the community effort cuts out a lot of the concerns right off the bat. |

I agree that community monitors sellers and makes buying experience safer on watch forums. However, from seller prospective eBay is better IMHO. I sold some watches recently and had them listed both on watch boards and eBay at the same rime. eBay worked out better for the following reasons: 1) Watches sold faster on eBay, because of exposure to wider base of potential buyers, 2) Seller protection - eBay offers Seller Protection policy, while here the seller is not really protected, unless he asks for bank cash transfer. Not everyone is honest here - trust me, there are plenty of crooks browsing watch boards. As a seller I was getting strange requests, which looked like fraud to me. |
