Post subject:  Should i buy a Gold 6.7?
I haven't worn a watch since 1977 and, while shopping for a lady's watch, she saw the above in a case and ultimately both of us liked it. Now, internet research placed me here, with a few concerns, please. Seems gold watches and large, gold watches, in particular are sort of out (this one has a white face). That may be ther reason the jeweler has this at a fairly substantial discount off list. I read of a Breitling watch owner, who was told his 11 yr old watch could not be serviced because the movement was no longer available-could this be likely with the 6.7? I read some have retruned the 6.7 because of over the top bling perception-common? I must say, the Bentley logo strikes a wanna be owner and I sold my Bentley a few years ago. As I try and talk myself out of this piece, I still, after one day anyway ,still like it. My use would be daily.

Any advice appreciated, including alternative watch choices.

I think that a gold watch can be very elegant, but the Bentleys are a little too much for me - that's a lot of gold hanging out there. You won't have a problem with the movement - it's mechanical so will be serviceable / repairable for hundreds of years.

I Love the gold 6.75, white face on a croc. i'll get one as soon as they get cheap enough

The piece is new and has been stale at the shop, as I am told-$14K. I heard that it has allso been discontinued.

14K IS A GOOD PRICE FOR BNIB, THATS ABOUT HALF OF RETAIL, CANT GO WRONG WITH THAT, IF ITS NEW.

If you like it buy it. It sounds like you can get a great deal on it and if you're worried about it being to flashy a nice brown croco strap will take care of that.

My personal taste aside, what about the investment value of this piece. Looking at used prices on ebay, etc., seems as though it is like the Bentley-50% off the floor and then pretty fast downhill after that. Is this piece, if being discontinued resalable in say 6 months or 5 years, vs. a Rolex Daytona?

Don't buy it for investment purposes, only extremely limited, extremely high end pieces make good investments, this will continue to lose money, just less if you buy it cheap.

you are going to have to expect some sort of hit if you try to sell it ,fact is if the dealr cant get 14k for it new, you won for sure, i am gonna grab one when i find a pre owned one in great shape i can steal for like 10k or maybe a little less, they are out there, but 14 is by far the cheapest i have seen a gold 675 bnib. for example i was in tourneau time machine on Sat, and they have a pre owned gold 675 on black crock, 19k they want for it.

Welcome aboard.

The only way you can GUARANTEE a gold watch (or any watch for that matter) will be an investment is if you buy it for less than the gold it's made of is worth! THEN it would be an investment in pure precious metal terms.

If you want something gold that's an investment, you'd be infinitely better off buying a gold ingot instead. However if you want a nice watch, and you like it, buy the 6.75.

Yeah but the people at Tourneau are friggin crazy.

I don't think you can compare the resale value of a Breitling vs a Rolex. People, non-WIS at least, know Rolex and they are gonna be willing to pay more for them, just for the name. Plus the Daytona is a pretty classic Rolex that I would think will almost always go for a lot, new or pre-owned, Just MHO.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I went with the 1/4 oz. Mapleleaf coins, a good while ago, -relatively apolitical and handy in anarchy, but then that's another story...

Whilst I like the 6.75 and want a piece that can be used on a daily basis, I realize that there seem to be a fair number of users, who sell after a fairly short interval. That is the reason I am looking at the exit strategy, if bling or weight or whatever bothers me.

I plan to opt for .22 shells and male/female rabbit pairs as my currency of choice if, nay when he reckoning comes. But the real question is....what watch do you wear to the rapture?

I think it si very usable for a daily watch, i would wear it daily. it may be kinda tricky to sell, but that because there is a limited market for that watch, but the right buyer is out there.. most people who are spending more than 10k on a watch want new
