Never heard of that, but I guess it's possible - there's not too much info out there on the differences between civillian and military versions (besides the frequency).

It is not that simple that he means the "testbutton" on the back of the emergency (the one you use when testing the beacon with the "test instrument"? I mean, for the beacon to work the antennas must be deployed, right? Therefore it feels kinda impossible to have just an on/off switch. It feels like it is a misunderstanding or something. :)
