I'm currently in the market for a Super Avenger and been shopping around for the best deals.
I was offered a used SA from a guy on another watch forum.

He says he bought the watch in Feb '10 and hardly worn it.
Is there any way to determine (maybe from the serial number) as to when the watch was actually manufactured so I can confirm that it is indeed only 8 months old?
It's a white baton model btw

Thanks for the link. Very helpful.

But could anyone with an SA confirm, is the date engraved on the casing or the bracelet?

Also with case dating, is this visible with the strap/bracelet on or do you have to remove them to see the date?

You have to remove the strap I believe. It should be in between the lugs. WWYY format, BUT....

There are many new watches that sit in the ADs showcase or vault for months and months without ever being sold, so although he may have bought the watch in february, it could have been manufactured at any given date between then and when the first baton Super Avengers were released.

Manufacturing date codes are on the case AND on the bracelet, although they are generally different from one another since both components are not made as a matching pair. They are usually withing a few months of each other.

As mentioned you can find the production date between the lugs at 6 o'clock once the bracelet/band is removed. I would ask the person selling the watch you give you copies of all his paperwork that came with the watch when he purchased it...including the back page of his warranty booklet which should have the name of the dealer and the date of the sale.
