Post subject: | Navitimer Or Olympus That Is The Question? |
Hi All! What is the difference between a Navitimer and an Olympus when certain Navitimers have the same features as an Olympus? I know that some of the Olympus have a nicer “beaded bezel” resembling or echoing the original watches equipped with a slide-rule, yet not all of them. Is it just marketing or is their more a substantive difference? Thank you so much for your prompt replies to my inquiry. Best Regards, Enezdez |

Best Regards, Enezdez It you're comparing Navitimer Olympus vs Montbrillant Olympus, the differences are the bezel and the caseback. The montribllant olympus has a really nice engraved pic of the breitling factory. The movt is the same and I think the size too. I prefer the Navitimer Bezel, but the caseback of the montbrillant is beautiful. |

Navi Oly is 43mm and it's out of production, Monty Oly is 42.10mm |

Thanks Again For You Prompt Replies! Best Regards, Enezdez |

Navi 1461/52 and Navi 1461 are semi perpetual, Navi 95 QP, and Navi 1952 QP are perpetual, which is a big difference. |

But why are they not then marketed as an Olympus since I thought the Olympus name stature was the top of the line - in orther words cost more money in general - and naturally QP do cost more so why not market them as Olympus. In other words what makes an Olympus an Olympus & a Navitimer a Navitimer? I am sorry not trying to give you a hard time - Sincerely! Best Regards, Enezdez |

I think it's just marketing, Olympus succeeded Navitimer. |

Heres a photo of the Navi Olympus and Montbrillant Olympus. They have the same movement, only differences as stated earlier are the caseback and bezel. That Olympus is NOT the same as a basic Navitimer. The Olympus line has a 4 year perpetual calendar with day, date, month, and moon functions. A Navitimer does NOT have these complications unless you're talking about a Navitimer Olympus...which is the blue watch on the left. I think you may be confused, the Navitimer Olympus did not replace the Navitimer, they're two totally different watches. ***Also worth noting; the Navitimer Olympus was retired a few years ago and replaced with the Montbrillant Olympus. I've heard rumors that the MB Olympus has recently been retired but it's still on the Breitling website. ![]() |

But you are mistaken! Some Navitimers have the same features as an Olympus but do not have such designation whatsoever - just review the one's I have mentioned more carefully and you will see what I mean. The 1461/52 I own is not an Olympus nor Navitimer 1461 an Olympus! Best Regards, Enezdez |

The 1461/52 has a different movement, has a 52 week complication, and doesn't have a moon phase. I think you're comparing two totally different watches. It's like saying a Navitimer is the same as an Evolution just because they both have a chronograph. |

Both are essentially the same caliber only modified slightly different. Best Regards, Enezdez |

I'm not really sure I understand your question or what you're trying to figure out with this thread? |

An Olympus has caliber 19, same as Navitimer 1461! My question is what makes a Navitimer a Navitimer & an Olympus an Olympus when they share many of the same features - see older posts within the thread for further explanation. Best Regards, Enezdez |

Best Regards, Enezdez The Olympus and Montbrillant 1461 have the same movement and are basically the same exact watch. When I hear NAVITIMER, I do not think of all these models with extra complications, I think of the Original Classic Navitimer with a chrono only. |
