My B-1 requires another battery change after 2 years  (No alarm or backlight usuage?)

Is this something that can be undertaken by me? Is it really that important for Breitling to change (and charge) some serious $ for a $2 battery?

Your considered opinons are gratefully received.

Candocad.

My first post, an honour to be here!

Certainly possible:

Heed the warnings about doing your own work, however.

Your AD should have the ability to do this work and it shouldn't cost much at all. I'm told the biggest issue is use and amount of the proper sealant. I personally wouldn't undertake this task. The typical battery life for a B1 is 2 years (longer on an Aerospace).

And just to add....

Breitling doesn't use the low end $2 batteries - they prefer ones with less tendency to leak!

I wouldn't do it, and my dad was a TV repairman! Seriously, I would let an AD do it, shouldn't cost too much. My M-1 cost about $50 USD.

Thanks all for your comments, I have the equipment so I shall have a go later this week.

A particular thanks to Iantheklutz, and the link to an earlier thread.

I promose to let you know eitherway how it goes. I just think that £125+ for a battery change is excessive. Every other battery change okay, but not every 2 years.

Thanks.

Candocad.
