typically speaking, from AUTHORIZED DEALERS, (not the ones online), but in actual stores, IN GENERAL, what are the deepest discount you think they will give on Breitlings, (specifically SA with diamond bezels)? I cant find one to go deeper than 22% off |

In the UK you'd be lucky to get 22% to be honest unless you had an existing relationship with the AD. In the US I believe 30 - 35% is probably the max. Someone US-based would be better placed to answer this than me. |

In the US at least AD prices increased earlier this year and discounts above 25% are harder to find. SAs are popular so may well lead to smaller discounts, but the diamond bezel versions aren't big movers so would expect some more flexibility there - though getting above 25% is still going to be harder than it was (but not impossible). |

I wish I knew of an AD in the US that would give 30-35 off but i dont see it a reality. I would think in this economy that they would rather sell the watch with 25-30 off than lose the sale because of a measly 5% You agree? |

I live in Chicago and have had no problem getting at least 25% off. The whole "discounting" makes no sense to me. Why bother putting an MSRP on a piece if you know the dealer is going to discount it? Maybe because the brands that discount just keep cranking out timepieces until demand falls off? Online dealers offer discounts on Panerai, but the only discount I was offered from a Panerai AD was a local dealer who messed up an earlier transaction - otherwise, no discounts at a brick and mortar store. Everyone knows you can get lings at a discount - the MSRPs, IMO, are a joke. |

The decision to mark prices higher and discount deeper is nothing more that a pricing policy. It just is what it is. |

Well actually they were having a fall sale and all Breitlings were 30% to 45% off. All the normal priced pieces were 30% off and the big price tagged ones like the one with the diamond bezel and some Flying B, & some of the bentley were 40-45%. |

Thats the whole point. Consumer perception of a deal goes a pretty long way. |

But not everybody gets a discount. We have nothing better to do than think about watches all day long, but some people have no clue that you can pay something less than the dealer is asking. |

The whole discount off of MSRP thing doesn't just apply to watches, but the vast majority of luxury items (cars, jewelry, furniture, etc). Since listing the MSRP and giving discounts has become the norm, if you don't do it, then your stuff just looks way overpriced (even though your normal price could be a better deal). Same concept as how pretty much every store lists stuff at $XX.99 or $XX.98. They do it for reason, even though it may not work on you or me. You just have to remember that there's a sucker born every minute, and they are truly a retailer's best friend. In the end it comes down to if you think you are getting a good deal. Some people are perfectly happily with paying retail, others are not. Sounds like you're getting a good discount and unless you want to wait for a sale, a 20%+ discount seems pretty standard. |

IN SAN DIEGO THE MARKET IS TIGHTLY CONTROLLED...ONLY A FEW RETAILERS; SO I HAD TO WORK REAL HARD TO GET 15 % I'VE HEARD 20 % IS POSSIBLE ON SOME MODELS. .. |
