Post subject: | Question about adjusting my super avenger's date |
In the book it says don't do it between 6pm and 3am, ok, easy enough. But if it's not on the correct date then it could potentially THINK is between those times, couldn't it? Especially if it had stopped ticking. Maybe i'm being painfully ignorant in my thinking. It's hard for me to explain but if the date is just about to change over it knows it's after 8pm as opposed to 8am, right. Like, I could be adjusting it at 10am in real life but it actually died at whatever time or it's off a day and it thinks it's 10pm. Does this make any sense? |

It makes sense. The solution is to wind the time forward until its out of the 8pm/3am window. Winding time forward is harmless as it only accelerates the date change mechanism. Its winding the time backward that you want to avoid as that will force the date gear to try and reverse while its engaged. |

so basically i can wind it to any time other than anywhere between 8-3 and set the date? wow, why didn't i think of that. and winding the time forward at any time is fine? forward seems to be anti clock wise on the crown. |

RJ's already answered it, but just to reiterate - when using the quick set date function, it doesn't matter at all what the actual time is in "real life" : it only matters what time the watch is saying. |

And just to add - don't worry, it's not the first time that question has been asked. |

Assuming you mean AM/PM on the watch and not in real life, youre most likely fine. If you change anything during those hours, you will encounter a fair amount of resistance and will pretty much have to force the date to change (hence, the bent or broken metal teeth of the date wheel). Unless very heavy handed, its generally a mistake that most people wont make. |

If I haven't worn my watch in a while and need to set the date, I always wind time forward until it reads 6:30 (it's just an easy visual indicator, both hands straight down so I don't mess it up by mistake). Then I use the quick date function to set the date to the day before the actual date, then I wind time forward until the date and am/pm is correct. S |
