I have just been having a look at some of the stuff that Breitling Japan makes available. Can I ask this stupid question but why doesnt Breitling make available watches like the Chronomat Blue Impulse (I know its only a dial changeup) and say the Avenger Code Yellow. These look superb pieces and would make great sellers, so the question is why arent these types of watches available worldwide or are they?

Avenger Code Yellow is worldwide, Blue Impulse is a tribute to a Japanese Air Defense Force squadron so makes sense that it would be for Japan.

That said, Japan has a history of getting LEs that aren't available elsewhere, sometimes with display backs. Partly it's because the Japanese distributor orders them, but partly it's undoubtedly to do with Breitling's perception of the Japanese market vs. elsewhere in the world.

Personally I have seen a lot more Japanese LEs that I like in the past few years than other models and it is frustrating.

Until you don't realize it's yen and wonder why a Chronomat is $150,000 :!: Scared the crap out of me at first, what can I say, sometimes I'm a little slow. :D

Correct me if Im wrong aleister but I think another reason that Japan gets the true LE'S and not just minor color changed so called LE's is because they are willing to pop for the extra price on them with out expecting a HUGE discount or a discount at all. Here in the USA we are becoming really "spoiled" if you will in going to a retail location, not just for watches but in general and thinking that the retail prices is not the price we are paying no matter what the object is.

Just a thought.

Could very well be the case. The Japanese AD's don't discount as they claim you should be able to pay list price for luxury items. And the Japanese average customer is very happy paying full price, as his surroundings will know how much it was and understand that he could afford it.

An analogy - Through the latest recessions, LV have decreased sales/profits in most countries. However, Japan is one of very few, if not the only, country where LV have both maintained their levels but also increased sales and profit. (Guess not even Archie could help them down under... ;) ) Says something about the Japanese customer, where they prefer to spend their money and their liking of status symbols.

The all-dark slate grey dial CSO (ltd for Japan 300 pieces, produced a few years back) gave me the idea that a "Blackeye Blue" CSO would be wonderful. I do not know why a world-wide (or EU LE 8) ) version with this dial isn't available yet, while almost all models are available either with an all-blue or with a BB dial (SOHC with both). A little fresh breeze would do very good to the CSO regardless when Breitling is planning to refresh the CSO completely, with sg like the CSOII, like the COII.
I'm sure I'd go and buy my second CSO on the first day of appearance if with a BB dial...
Best, Robert
