I recently noticesd a tiny tiny miniscule scratch on the crystal on my SA. When I send it in for servicing will they fix the crystal? |

The crystal is fine, its a scratch on the anti-reflective coating. Unfortunately, they cannot re-coat the crystal and the only option is to replace it completely (costs a couple of hundred bucks). |

Thanks for the response guys. Sucks that I would have to replace it. It is a tiny scratch and I suppose I can live with it. A related questions, I have banged and scratched the SA over the year, curious as to whether they polish these out? Thanks again all!

They will polish the watch with a full service - the $450 or so one, not with a basic service. |

If you do get a full service, when you receive the watch back from Breitling it will look BRAND NEW. They do an incredible job! |

Someone correct me, if i am wrong, but i believe you can also get the AR coating removed - that should get rid of your problem...and could be a lot cheaper as well. You just won't have an AR coating anymore - at least not on that side of the glass.. |

Well yes you can remove the AR coating yourself with a polishing compound (Cape Cods will do it), but the AR serves a decent purpose so removing it may not be the best option. |

I've heard, and seen on my watches with double AR, that the outer coating collects smudges very well. You might even like not having the outer coating. Give it a shot! |

It doesn't protect anything, it just reduces reflections. Yea, besides, it can always be removed, but id prefer AR with a little scratch than no AR at all. |

I couldn't agree more, but I guess it's personal choice and for some people the under crystal AR is sufficient - after all, that's all that many brands do because of the risk of scratching outer AR. |
