Post subject:  Breitling watch clean and polish?

Hi

So I ve had my navi over 6 weeks now and wear it all the time and love it to bits :D ,

Unknown to me i have received my first scratch to one of the arms of the case!
So this got me thinking how often to people take there watches to be cleaned and polished?
How effective is the breitling polish in removing scratches?
Is there any approved home kits for cleaning/polishing?

has anyone got a before and after picture of when they have sent there watch to be polished ?

Many Thanks

Andy

Hi - there's a load of threads on the subject of cleaning and polishing on here. Run a search using the search function (top right under the PrestigeTime banner) and you'll find all you need to know.

But, in short, Cape Cod polishing cloths are you best bet IMO for removing scratches from polished surfaces (don't use them on brushed finishes though). Do a search for Cape Cod on here and you'll find loads of info. Cods are available on eBay for pretty cheap money, so that's your best bet.

I second recommendation on Cape Code cloth.

I recently bought a Breitling and deployant clasp on the leather strap was heavily scratched (no deep sctatches, just normal wear marks). After few minutes of Cape Code treatment metal clasp looked shiny and almost new :lingsrock:

When I send my watch for service every 5 years or so they do a polish as part of that service. Let me tell you, this makes the watch almost as new. It is seriously amazing. However, the 6 week turn around time and the cost of shipping makes it something that should of course only be done every 5 years or so. Stick to the cap cods for the touch out. Down the road, when you get it serviced it will come back spectacular!

I actually bought a couple of bars of jewellers rouge, some polishing/buffing pads and use my dremel tool. Its surprisingly easy and hard to mess up. Then I use cape cod polishing cloths. I only do this when it starts getting really scratched up, otherwise the cape cods for "scratch maintenance" :lingsrock:

Hi Andy

PM me your address, I'll send you a pack of Cape Cod Cloths. I've got a few spares at home.
