I was looking through the list of Breitling for Bentley models and noticed that there are some models which are rarely seen, such as Flying B.

These are square-shaped models, not your traditional Breitling round shapes, you can reference them here:

They look like interesting and unique watches, however for some reason I never see B for B rectangular models posted and discussed on the watch forums.

What's up with that? Why are these models not popular? Too expensive?

Thanks!

I do think that were a bit over priced. Personally though, I think its a simple fact that the looks of them are nothing to write home about. Dont get me wrong, I would wear one but would never fund one.

As I said here - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21973

They have never been popular. Polarising looks, ridiculously high prices.

I think they look nice. Like we all agree though, rip-off.

I like them, but like everyone, I can't see paying that much for one.

Based on the above comments, I take it that Flying B represents failed attempt for Breitling to capture a slice of high-end market?

Who knows what Breitling were trying to achieve, but it was certainly priced at the top end of Breitlings. I think that it failed because it was overpriced for what it was, it was an unusual, and not particularly popular complication - the jump hour, and no one really knew where it sat. It didn't fit in with more usual Breitlings, but wasn't part of a series of watches. Say what you will about Galactic, but Breitling at least positioned a range that gave each watch a 'home' within that range. Flying B never had that, #2 was less popular than the original and by the time the Chrono appeared the market had already made its judgment on the first two pieces.

I think the watch was really meant to resemble the car:

Big, Heavy, Beautiful and very expensive.

Of the B's I have the one that gets the most complements by far is the flying b, hands down.

The Chrono Flying B is one of my favorites but the price on the other hand not so much .....
